Hi noray, did you see the pictures of my Falcon a few posts up with your canopy on it,, looks great. I Ordered a new R6014HS just to be safe,, I know I was probably going to be OK with the 6014FS but what the hell,,, better safe than sorry,, there was a post with the amplifers a few posts up, it worked great.... I'll probably be looking to sell the 6014FS it was just installed but never flown,, just has velcro on the bottom.. Anyone interested the first $150 takes it

Hey Ray the interior is something Icustom built. The panels and seats were kit bashed out of my junk drawer and the pilots were from another jet Ihad, so I just had to repaint them for the Falcon.....sorry nothing that could be bought and reproduced. But Ilove your canopy. =)

Hi all,
had my first three flights with thefalcon this weekend. Flew like a dream and was impressed with the turn of speed with a 14lb wren. Unfortunately ripped the main retract out on the fourth flight due to suncream finding its way intomy eyes (this is notjust an excuse...lol...wont do that again) couldntsee well at all. Will make some new retract mounts and resheet the wing, not that big a job. If you have not got one...get one..what a bargain.

Iknow a couple guys out here that might be interested Ray. The thing Ihave been waiting for someone to make for us all is a fiberglass tank that will max out the fuel situation and get us some more flight time. Iknow a couple guys have done it but they are one off situations.

I might consider doing a fuel tank.  What size?

Not sure how much room is in there but a 80-90 oz conformal tank would be great addition to the Falcon. Would just about double my flight time. I know one guy local here that made one up will have to check and see what size he was able to come up with. At the moment Iam running a 50oz Dubro with a small header tank.

Ray,

I'd be interested in an interior. I assume that it would be basically a cockpit tub that fits into your canopy.

I have a 64 oz. juice bottle for a fuel tank, which is about right for a 14# turbine. With my Wren SS I normally do a 6.5 minute flight but wouldn't mind a little more fuel capacity. If you made the tank to conform to the rear fuse and centered it on the CG I would think you could get up to 80 oz. in there.

To answer your question I would shoot for about 72 oz. That would be good for about 8 minute flights (with 2 minutes reserve) for 14# class engines, and about 7 minute flights (with 2 minutes reserve) for the 18-20# engines. If someone wanted to reduce their take off weight or do shorter flights then they could always short fill the tank or lower the vent height to reduce capacity.

Here's what I did for fuel and cockpit. the Jet-Tec fuel tank has 96 oz capacity. It is obviously much more expensive that a juice bottle but I needed the extra capicity for my Ram 750. Also it does not go over the rear spar. I plan on putting the UAT past the spar. Here's the link - http://www.angelfire.com/wi/jettech/page2.html located close to the bottom of the page.
The cockpit tub is from a Tamjets F-16ARF thatI did not use. I built a frame on the inside of the canopy and it sets right in with some trimming.

I am in the process of making fuel cells for the Falcon 120. Molds and Plugs are almost done. Will post pics very soon.

2 - 20 ounce wing tanks........one for each wing.

1 - fuselage tank @ 78 ounces

same set-up as the BVM Bobcat

BTW....my Falcon 120 is highly modified. I changed out the 20mm wing tube and put a 1.25 inch Carbon tube and socket in place of the aluminium tube. I also completely redone the intire inside of the wing.......I would say it is 7 times stronger than stock. Going to use P-80SE or P-120.

I will post pictures soon.

Will be watching for pics of tanks. I ordered the P80 for my Falcon 120, it isoverkill but wanted it for a later project. Got notice that it will be delivered on Wednesday of next week. Feel like a kid waiting for Christmas day!!!!. Guess since I will be glassing the wings I will go ahead and put carbon wing tube in it also. Wing tanks have me curious, might do thattoo if does not look like a major hastle. Guess I need to do some research on the BVM Bobcat as I did not know it had wing tanks.

Crow is not needed on this plane. With full flaps (40-45 degrees) it slows down nicely and you can land it at almost walking speed.

Because of the dia of the P80 the normal JetCatmount is too wide for the rear deck, but if you can get hold of a Kangaroo mount that has the fixings on the underside and will work with a bit of fiddling, please also read back on the inadequate support for the motor mount and the various mods that have been done to aliviate this, I drilled through the mount into the fus and installed 10mm dia carbon rods.

Thanks mike.
I will make the mod to beef up the engine area as well. If it was not for the forums I would be curious to know how many planes would have been lost to the little things that did not get passedalong to one another in these threads.

I am not saying mine is the only way to modify this plane for more power, but you may be interested in some of the mods I did:

Page 86 post 2140
Page 90 post 2226
Page 95 post 2358
Page 96 post 2379
Page 97 post 2405

Couple of post on the beefing up of the wings and retract mounts somewhere as well, but as you are completly moding yours you don't need those.

Hi

I bought a second hand Falcon with a pst 600r turbine on it, all electronic is now in place but i did not get the building instructions and therefor dont know the throws and CG

Does anyone know of a place to download these instructions?

Or can someone tell me what they should be?

How do you guys set up your radio? I'm thinking of d/r, expo?

Best regards

13 inches or 33 cm back from the leading edge is perfect.

The nose doesn't drop in turns and it is still very predictable.

Back on page 103 the structural failure of my dads Falcon was spoken about. We had assumed that some hidden structural damage was sustained in an 'arrival' at the end of the previous year. This could still have been the case however we have since discovered something that may explain the cause. Before I say this please let me reiterate that I say MAY explain the cause. I'm not saying is WAS the cause.

On inspection of the remains we noticed that one of the wing tubes was destorted before its end. This distortion ws just before a rib! It seems that it was one of the ones with the wing joining tube that was a fraction too small. This means that when you push it all the way into one wing it doesn't quite reach a spar in the other and so loses a lot of strength.

Anyway, the new one has a tube that is a better length and it had it first flight today!!! HAPPY AGAIN!
