RE: A few pics from Wroughton
A question for the Gentlemen who fly at Wroughton.
I have a new Jet in need of a Tarmac runway for a test flight, can you help me?
Unfortunately my club strip ( grass ) is very wet at present & St Athan is unserviceable due to runway resurfacing.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
John Cockfield

Great day flying with Harry Curzon yesterday...beautiful autumn weather...his Supersport powered F-104 looked the dog's nuts! Bring more weather like that next time you come to Wtn H!

Hello Dick,
I reckon that Harry must have some sort of deal with the man upstairs, because last Sunday the same thing happened. We had a great afternoon while you were on way back from Jet Power. It was 17 degrees, no cloud and no wind.......... heaven?

Weather outstanding at Wroughton yesterday for the weekend pilgrimmage! Lots of jets there including Peter Keevil's absolutely stunning Gnat which flew very well until an uncommanded nose down pitch input on the gear pass before landing caused its demise. Cause as yet unknown.
Ian Shaw was there with his Red Bull coloured KingCat, which handled the breezy 45 deg cross-wind well, and I logged another three with my Velox (picture shows it with Bill Grimsley, on holls down in the south from his normal haunt in Glasgow!).
Cheers,
Dick

RE: A few pics from Wroughton
Had a great day at Wroughton today...plenty of jet flying, and obviously word has spread about our fantastic site 'cos we were treated to two full displays by a pair of full-size Gnats which were working up their airshow display routine (haven't seen two Gnats in such close proximity to each other since the Reds days at Kemble way back in the late 70s!). The one painted in Red Arrows colours has only recently been restored to flight status after nearly 30 years on the ground and it's the only Gnat flying that actually flew as part of the Red Arrows team! Not models, I know (so delete if you must Mr Moderator) but interesting none the less!

RE: A few pics from Wroughton
We had one of the best days yet at Wroughton today! 10 jet fliers were at the club today and after 1300ish, we had the field to ourselves. Not just that but the weather was perfect.
Davis Gladwin joined Geoff and I, as did Paul Lewis, Nick Smith, Mark Woodland, Roger Kilbey, Phil Mackie, Kevin Smith and Trevor flew a variety of Kingcats, Bobcats, Flash, Velox Foxjet, Elans and a Skymaster F-18 (Roger's).
David Gladwin's Bobcat must be one of the most travelled models around...he brings it across from Australia to fly during his summer holls here in England - and notched up another 5 flights today, bringing the total for this Bobcat (he has a pair) to 187.
Herewith a few pics...
Cheers,
Dick

Dick, May I express my sincerest thanks to you, Geoff, Mark, Nick,Paul, Roger,Kevin, Trevorand Phil for a brilliant day and such a warm welcome. I have been in aeromodelling for over 50 years and have been fortunate enough to visit many events around the world, but they just don't come any better than today. A peferct site, beautiful weather with 10 knots down thesmoothest of runways and a group of guys enjoying a great hobby. No BS, no hassle, just great fun with ultra reliable models, model aviation and cameradie at its very best !
I just hope I, and my fellow Australian jet modellers, can offer you a similarly warm welcome in Australia next year. We will make your visit memorable and for all the right reasons.
Best regards to you all,
David.
Jason, can't make it tomorrow but later in the summer for sure!

We assumed you'd been stuffed to work...but we made sure we had enough enjoyment to cover your bit too (bet you wanted to hear that!). We aim to be there again next weekend...are you rostered to work then?

Wish it was my bandit, but this is the 120 powered Bandit that a friend bought from Simon Miller.

Interesting thing for me is not the attitude but that the airbreak has blown partially open, even though the airpressure was full!!!
Must have a look at that

Weather absolutely perfect at Wroughton today. Plenty of jet activity with Mike Gay, Trev Robinson, David Butt, Harry Curzon, Colin & Brian Gardner and Ian & Keith Worsdell (who travelled all the way from Kent to enjoy the tarmac at Wtn). As a bit of a bonus, it was RAF Lyneham's Families' Day (Lyneham's abt 6 miles as the crow flies) and so we had good sight of their 'big' jet displays too, including the Reds and Vulcan. Anyway, I took a few snaps...
Cheers,
Dick
