Hi Rob,

The Ultra lightning, Ultra Flash and Inspiration are very much of the same ilk which is not surprising as they are all made by the same company. I have just got back from flying the UL today. Only had 2 flights as the weather was disgusting(sleet!) but continue to be impressed by how it flies.

Mick - Yes it need a bit jazzing up but not sure what to do at the moment. All I can say is that it won't have any trace of any Jet vendor on it.

Ref Aledged Futaba issues, I am not going to publicly comment either way as this is not the correct forum as it will only end up in a bun fight as there as some strong views that are often expressed on this subject. I will PM you my opinion.

Was only joking, Rob! Dave and I tweak each other occasionally...that was a tweak from me (he'll no doubt tweak me back when we meet on Thursday night!).

Cheers,

Dick

PS...Geoff does need some more bling on the iLightning...a decent Union Jack on the fin for starters!

Dave,

Best I could do with no light!

We Swindon Club jetters should have a Wtn JetFest sometime - that would really kick it off well (but wait till I'm active again...Foxo isn't far away!).

Geoff, can't believe you went today...

We have a plan for some more bling...tell you more about it later.
I did think of dragging you out to WTN today but I decided to be kind and leave you at home

It was a strange couple of days ref weather. None of the normal forecast websites agreed with each other. Yesterday the metoffice got it wrong and today they got it right.

Geoff,
I'm down loading the video of you flying the UL today. I should be able to post it in a few hours. I particularly like it when you flyby at full throttle and then throttle off and pull a 400ft loop whilst gliding!! it was good to maiden the FB T33 today. Not ideal conditions but I think I'm going to enjoy this one.

You b****r I had no idea you were videoing. If I had known I would have concentrated and flown better. As it was I was mainly thinking 'B****dy hell I can't feel my fingers' and then remembering I am meant to be flying a UL.

Well done on the FB T33, once you have got the UC snags sorted I also think you are going to enjoy it.

Here you go, this was the first flight. Impressive performance considering the conditions, which the video does not show so well.

As you say John, the vid doesn't really show how dark and dismal it was this afternoon. Also notice the sleet on the runway! Never mind, lets look forward to spring.

Oh dear...does that mean I need to get the paint shop ready again, or are we talking decals?!!

Whatever you do though Geoff, don't put the leg doors on - that whistle is brilliant!

John, congrats on the T-33...would have liked to see it fly - even if it had been from the warmth of the car 200 mtrs away!

Very impressive Geoff, John did well to keep it in shot.

On a serious note, I think that scheme could benefit fron pin stripes to pick out the lines more.
Didn't Shui's have them?

Morning Mick,

Cheers for that. On the second flight it was even gloomier so I did a flight which was much tighter and im my opinion more impressive.

There is a second UL, in the shui scheme, being assembled by a mate at the moment and that one is going to be blinged up. As I freely admit I have no taste ref colours so I will just copy what he does. In the meantime I am just going to spend the time fine tuning the setup.

Geoff.

Geoff,
Very nice model and flying,I fancy a UL myself, what retracts and legs/wheels are you using?

The Carf package includes Behotec units with AT legs but not too keen on AT anymore after my Hawk gear problems.

Phil.

HI Phil,

Been out flying again today and put another four flights on the UL. I am actually using the stock CARF gear and legs which means behotec gear and AT legs. So far it has all been faultless in the 10 flights I have had so far. I also have AT legs on my flash and they have also been faultless on that as well. The only comment I have WRT to the retract/leg package is that I wish they would go away from using a pin. IMO its an old fashioned method and they should swap to using a similar method to BVM which is so much sturdier and more importantly easier to install without all this grinding flats on pins.

That is the end of the negatives, I am really happy with the way the UL flies. As Dick commented to me today you can see its a model that you have complete confidence in!

BTW What were the issues with the Hawk?
