I thought the British were first in 1983 with the Barjay model?
Or was it powered by gas like the first JPX engines.

No doubt BVM will say they patented the twin boom jet design, it's an unauthorised, inferior copy, yada, yada, yada.........

The British were first!
The first Model jet to fly in the world was on 20/3/1983 at Greenham Common called the Barjay. It was powered by a turbine designed by Jerry Jackman and his team. This produced 9 lbs thrust.
The Germans were second!
Kurt Schreckling flew his own design turbine FD2 in 1989. He demonstrated his FD3 64 turbine on his own design plane "Rutonius" and a second engine was flown by Reiner Binczyk at a demonstration event at Holsterbro Denmark on 24/8/1991. The FD3 64 Book was published in Germany in 1992 and I guess there were many built in Germany soon after the book was published.
Not sure of the date of the first JPX to fly or the first AMT but both may well have been before 1993
SWB with the twin turbine F-18 shown in the video in 1993, a great project but a long way from being the first.

Terry
If you read Kurts book his engines would run with any usual liquid fuel such as JetA1 JP4 Kerosene as well as Diesel with 10% petrol added. The Barjay turbine powered model aircraft was Propane fuelled.
