As Stated above, Friday was more or less a complete washout. when i arrived (11am) It was raining right up till 4pm. Alot of people left around 2pm as it just did not look to get any better.
Alot of nice jets around, i think i seen maybe 6 or 7 jets fly from the time i was there for the day.
As for saturday it does not look any better more rain. I hope i'm wrong but thats the the way it looks now. I hope aleast to fly a few flights tomorrow morining early before it rains like it did today
I heard about two crashes on thursday, one guy lost it from the sun blinding him went full power into the Ground and the otherone dont know much about.
Sunday is supposed to be a good day Weather wise.

Yes, yesterday was a complete blow out and today does not look any better. I got a few flights in on wed and thursday with the F-15 and the roo. All went well, ended up selling the F-15 mid day yesterday. Big rafale went in on thursday on take-off, Larry Kramer on the sticks. Apperantly a reversed Gyro was the culprit. Top cat also burned a big hole in the ground due to loss of orientation in the sun thursday night, caught fire and only thing left was two servos and a retract valve. Turbine bandit also went in, not sure why but looked like a high speed snap.
Lots a great flying and beautiful birds, will get some pics on the board shortly....

MORE Rain
As expected, I called a couple of guys and they said it was raining harder than yesterday. SOme of the manufacturers already bugged out and went home. It MIGHT clear up for tomorrow, but most people leave on Saturday afternoon. Hope they get some flights is.
While in that subject of rain, it's nice and clear and 80 in California. Don't forget Best in the West. April 12-14, 2002
Best In The West 2002 - The West Jet Rally Hosted by the Orange County Modelers' Association to be held at the closed El Toro Marine Base. Runway is at least 800 X 100 (sorry I could not find that data) Probably larger. We can't fly at the main Runway, but the area in unobstructed. Grand Stands are already in place and the club HAS RECEIVED final approval from the county. For more info on the Host Club, visit their site at: http://ocma.rcclubs.com or you can always visit our club website at: http://www.crcja.org

Best in the West Flyer PDF
To interested parties,
The 4 pg. Best in the West 2002 flyer is available as an Adobe Acrobat pdf file. E-mail <[email protected]> and put "BIW flyer request" in the 'subject' area of your e-mail.
Should be a great event!
Thanks,
Paul Reese

Sat. weather was not any better. Rain and more rain. Supposed to clear out late Sat. PM. A bunch including our group were packing up this morning. The Mississippi gang and the Louisiana group were heading for Lumberton MS to fly tomorrow.
Feel sorry for the people who came over the big pond for FJ.

Me, Eddie, Mark Pupera & Phil Nuza just got back in Slidell LA and are meeting the Mississippi Gang tomorrow at Lumberton to get some flying in. It was nothing but water there and was crap. Frank Tiano did a great job, however. Too bad the weather did not cooperate. Next year will be great!

That Rig is just too, too cool, Mr. Weeks. Just awesome.
When ya gonna build a Harrier?
BKF, you are right. It was Dave Brown's fault it was raining.
I was in Muncie last Thursday, and there on the roof of the shiny new carbon-fiber reinforced AMA Headquarters Building was Dave Brown hisself, dressed up in a full Yawanasukkett Indian medicine man outfit, headdress, sacred scepter, buffalo robe, the whole deal, doing a traditional rain chant. I guess it worked.
He also had one of those new FTE 1/4 scale Frank Tiano pilot figures(you know...the one you need to widen your cockpit a bit for) and he was doin' Haitian Voodoo Mojo to it, sticking it with pins, putting a dremel tool with a robart carbide sanding drum on its toes, and pouring cheap off-brand CA down it's throat. Go figure.
It's all part of the big conspiracy with the AMA teaming up with FEMA and the Aliens to control our lives through the parking meters. I never go out without a tinfoil hat anymore to protect me from the Control Waves from the Satellites.

Control Waves
I found that the tinfoil hat, over the years, acted more like an antenna than a reflector.
It is sad that the effort put forth by those who attended FJ was rewarded with constant atmospheric leakage. But I'm sure they got in some good "hangar" time and that is always fun. It's one of those times where you have to really appreciate the comraderie and fellowship with equally obsessed cohorts.

Sunday Sunday Sunday
Yeah we flew a bunch on Sunday, THe wind was pretty crossed up but no worries.
We flew on Friday, about 4 flights in light rain, spent 2 hours drying transmitter that night and more hours trying to reprogram radio and retrim the plane on Sunday. Buying new CAMPAC today for backup.
New aluminum spar mounts worked great in my old Bandit, pretty snappy pull ups, eh Tam??
PS Super Bandit looks pretty good, hard to tell from a regular Bandit unless side by side. New nose gear looks somewhat like old Rhom unit. No answer on final fuel capacity, should be a gallon or more, and bigger tailpipe for big motors like P-160

Matt...
Some nice flying with that rocket ship of yours, can almost see the wings flexing on those high G manuvers you pull. You have got to be pushing the high 200's on that bird! Had a blast, it was great to meet all of you.... Take good care of Jaye's 18 Tam
