Bryce Watson turned over his well deserved "TOP GUN" award to his honorable 87 year young grandfather who was a Tuskegee Airmen! What an honor to meet this man and hear of his courageous stories! I simply love that man and will never forget him!

After hearing from many pilots, there will be NO DEMOS OR UNSCHEDULED INTERUPTIONS FOR NEXT YEAR, NOT EVEN FACTORY. The total weekend will be dedicated to PILOTS ONLY. The glider had to be included this year, because that was part of the settlement with AMT. I had to honor that agreement for this year. It is my goal to have everyone fly as much as possible. My number is 502-429-6365, please feel free to call me if I missed you at the event. I will be more than happy to hear from you. The dinner next year will also be held at the airport under the two big tents. More of a closing statement later.

Ironic isn't it?

I cam back from KY Jets last night. I got there Thursday afternoon and on my first flight with my Roo, I lost orientation of my airplane because flying ant got into my right eye and my Roo went into the forest. I was able to kill the turbine as soon as I realized that I could not see what the airplane was doing. I spent most of my time (3 day) looking for the airplane and finally recovered it on Saturday evening. I would like to thank those that helped me look for my airplane (Scott from SKS video, Patrick Frost, Lance & Randy, Dwyane Woods). Special thanks to my GOOD FRIEND Dr. J for helping me retrieve my airplane. You guys are real true friends unlike those that I considered my friends that never bothered to help a friend out when in need.

I would also like to thank Mr. Larry Scotts of KY for spending his morning hours on Saturday looking for my airplane in his UltraLight airplane and Jessica the site FBO for providing me with an ATV all day Saturday to use in the search and retrieval.

As my father (may his soul rest in peace) use to tell me, “a friend in need is a friend indeed�. I would also like to mention than my true wingman Ben Burden, called me on my cell phone from Ohio when I was in the vast woods looking for my airplane all by my lonely self. I mentioned to him that I was by myself in the woods and he told me to walk out and he will be on his way from Ohio to KY to help me look for my airplane. Ben just came back from Hawaii on honeymoon and was ready to jump into his car in Ohio and drive down to KY to help his friend. I found my airplane about 45 minutes after I spoke to Ben in the woods and stop him from driving all the way down to Lebanon KY. You are a true WINGMAN my friend and the Ghost will never forget your gesture.

I met a lot of people at the event and thanks to Alaska Bob for my Saturday afternoon BBQ lunch.

Overall, the event was a success. As Patrick stated in his post, anybody with suggestions on how to improve this event or any concerns should direct it to Lewis through PM. Do not hesitate to tell him what he can change to improve the event. Lewis has a broad shoulder and would be more than willing to hear your thoughts.

Sorry to hear of your loss Ben - and I'm glad you did find the jet eventually.

Lewis - I've never met you, but I want to congratulate you for the tone you have taken in accepting criticisms / suggestions for changes etc. It's very easy to be ultra-protective of "your baby" and react defensively when people point out imperfections in your event, so kudos on taking the feedback well.

Last but not least ... are the cups always so large in Kentucky ? The DRINK, that is ?

Saturday night was a great time. To bad so many showed up with out tickets. Shame on them!! I like the idea of a catered event at the field. Tickets required during meal time and then open to ALL for the awards. I went to a fly-in several years ago that showed the Tuskegee Airmen movie after the awards on a large projected screen. It was nice to relax and drink the pain of the sunburn away.
Since I left Sunday morning I have no idea how the day went. I was wondering if it would be better and not have Sunday as an official day. I would feel kind of bad charging people at the gate only to find 60% or more of the planes have left. I wonder if the food vendors made any money Sunday??? They might agree that Sunday should be a free day.
Another thought.... Get permission before hand to use the large hangar. It was a good thing the plane was out of town and the owners did not mind.

Next year the 4th of July falls on Friday. How about FIREWORKS in the evening? I think that would help draw a crowd. The food vendors would love it. I'm sure the two towns would pay the bill.

It looks like the event was quite excellent. A lot of good brotherhood going on.
And I'm pretty much talking about the kind of botherhood that is generally not listening to a lot of Celine Dion.
Getting in touch with our feminine sides at a jet event is unacceptable, and forcing it on someone is even worse.

Great job Lewis. Looks like an awesome event. Love the paratroopers. Nice.

I apoligize for the Celine Dion. I was so busy I completely forgot about the music. I only wish someone had brought it to my attention. Patrick Frost spoke to me about a few things, and the changes have now been made. We want to make this the best event ever, but I must have your input, but not in this forum. Please call or PM anytime. To borrow a quote from John Burden (FIJR)..."The Pilots Jet Rally".

You and your team did a great job, thank you!!

It doesn't even matter what anyone says about the event from the point on because you MAN'ED UP AND MADE THE TWO BIGGEST CHANGES THAT HAD TO BE MADE (NO GLIDER, NO MANUFACTUERS TIME, JUST FLYING, THAT IS WHAT JET RALLY REALLY MEANS TO US THE CUSTOMERS , THE CUSTOMERS , THE CUSTOMERS.) This statement from you shows me that you were willing to listen and make changes for the customers who really traveled hundreds of miles even though you wanted one way, if this is to grow , you had to listen and make changes that a ture leader had to do. Now the city will see some of the finest planes and pilots return to set the skys on fire. Fire works next year work set this event off and bring the crowds for that day also.

Thank you for the private e-mail from Chris about feedback , I hope all will respond to it that got it so we can make this the pilots rally!!!

HI all, I would like to clear the air about the post on the hotel incident, it was never intended to reflect the organizers of Kenkucky Jets, It was a personal stab at those people in room 306.
As for the Jet rally, I really thought that with 60 to 80 pilots the runway would have been closed to full scale airplanes, I myself, had to abort two flights becaues of full scale.one just after takeoff and the other, taxien back to the pits.
I did approach Lewis in the evening at the hotel lobby about trying to get a 10 minute warning on a full scale landing and he replied with a raised out burst, calling everone STUPID, to think we should suggest to airport management our concerns. He continued to go on and on, calling all the pilots STUPID, at least twelve times he used the Word STUPID.
I think a apology is in order.
AS for changes, I am sure ,most pilots did not like every Tom, Dick and Harry spectator walking around in the tightly spaced Pilots Tent, I for one , would have set up my own tent if their would have been any space to do that.
And lastly, this rally was a spectators rally, Saturday morning was the icing on the cake when the DJ announced, flying would be from 9.30 to 12 noon and the spectators program would fill the rest of the day, well that created such an outburst , it was changed quickly.[8D]
Sad one day, happy the next day.

My two cents....................For what it is worth.................I had a great time.

Met a lot of old and new friends and answered a lot of Questions from spectators, But I don't mind. They didn't bother anything, and may join the hobby/sport, too. My only complant was it was too darned HOT! Ha HA

I was able, with the General's help, to get the maiden on my PST Panther. Of the four Panthers and one Cougar that were at the show, mine is the only one to comeback home in one piece. WITHOUT A SCRATCH!!!!

Thanks, also, to ALaska Bob (R J Edison) of Jet Modeler Magazine for the use his Extreme link 10 channel reciever when mine went unbound after a fresh battery charge.
