You are welcome Arden.
Both servos are more than adecuate for the job, the JR DS8711 gives you up to 400oz/in at 6V, the Hitec gives you 333oz/in at 6V, I have a single Hitec in my Hawk and we flew # 1 Hawk with the same servo, so the JR is a good choise to use for the elevator.

A few more pictures of some of the work I did last night, I was testing the gear retract system to make sure it cycle good and that the doors fallow in secuence. I left it with the mains in the up position, Sunday I will check to see how much air is left in the system.

Carlos,
you are my Hero. I loosened the elevator bearing mount and it fell right in alignmentl matching the other elevator . i will mixup some hysol and secure the bearing mount perfectlyand let it dry overnite and then tork it down. i had to do the same on the hornet wing to properly get it in alignment. i will post picture some time tomorrow.

Thank you, so far it has been nothing but fun to build this one. I usually type the words then I edit the pictures later just in case the computer goes south.
Here is the Taminator building at light speed, so fast the the picture came out blury and master painter Heui on another mission with the A-4 and my friends Kevin ( nice to see you back with the jets ) and Chris that came all the way from STS ( Santa Rosa ) to pick up his new Thunder bird F-16 ( soon to have a P-80 ).

Carlos,
after adding shims to aline elevator to fuse the elevator shafts were to far out of alinement, and i don't think that will work. i cut a peice of tubing and slide over shaft. removed the bearing mounts and installed still did not come into alinement i inlarged the hole forward a slight bit and reinstalled and get a very good elevator to fuslage alinment. So now i will cut a small piece of tubing install the bearing mounts on the shaft, install the tubing to hold the shafts in alinement and install the bearring mount and elevator tape and aline and glue in place
emaill me how to upload th pictures i could not get it to work

RE: Fei Bao Hawk
Well my Hawk got some air under her wings today.
Thanks to Eric Banner for his help and advise prior to and after the flight, There should be some piccies from Eric in a little bit.
CoG was set mid point at 170mm, This felt still forward, so i'm going to take it back 5mm at a time to find the best setting.
Take off was quite long, but I wanted to get enough speed before lifting off.
approx 1min into the flight the engine decided to flame out, downwind at good height, so a short final on glide and landed safely. She does glide very well. I had to increase the elevator throws with no engine, so that was flying her at 40mm up and down, i'll probably leave it set at this for further flights. I was amazed at the glide on her, came in from quite a way off, and slowed up for a nice smooth touch down.
Therefore flight settings were:
CoG 170mm - Safe setting.
Ailerons: 20mm up and down
Elevator 40mm up and down.
Didn't get to check the flaps, will do this when she flies again.
Flame out was due to air in the lines and a collapsing UAT due to a felt clunk that wasn't allowing the fuel to draw through, this is now sorted.

Hi Misha
Yes I will be covering them as soon as the rear installation is done, you can never be too carefully. Before I experienced a total lost of gear air due to propane ingniting out side the engine engolfing the air tanks cousing an airline to get soft to the point were it bursted on the F-16, because of that I will cover the airlines and wires with ceramic cloth and metalic tape like the F16.

i just want to avoid that kits get a bad name because of user errors.
the CG we suggested is one that we flown with.
i am sure ali can,t remember this , but it was him 2 years ago suggested the cg back to 180mm.
it is just if you are not a famous pilot people dont take you serious these days.........
and a "yep you are right" is fast forgotten.[8D]

Yep, agree.
The real trick is to record all these learned parameters so they go out with the kits, especially since most affordable kits these days do not have "up front" instruction/flight manuals supplied by the manufacturer or supplier.
In an ideal world all kits supplied by every manufacturer would be fully flight proven and a comprehensive instruction manual written. This service however is labour intensive and needs to be paid for. Not all (most?) are willing or able to pay the premium.
Still, the excitement keeps us all alive!
Kind regards,
Eric
