Dad let me stand near the f-100 and I should feel gratefull for getting that close.
I was stuck with the old spot all weekend (thanks Wilcox)

We will arrive in Tucson Thursday night. I dont know where we are staying.

When are you comin to one of our monthly jet togethers?

Don't forget about LA Jets the weekend after Tucson.

Glad to hear the 16 is up and running again.

Guys,
I Flew a 12 foot span competition sailplane into the clouds once, scared the bejesus outa' me!

I also lost a Bird o time that way, too. It disappeared, I pushed forward on the stick, and it didn't reappear! When I did see again, it was 1/2 a mile away and looping!
I shudder to think how far a turbine could get ..........

Default "WetCATs" didn't do too bad

for a bunch of guys that fly where it never rains!!!

I was wondering where all of those east coast boys were on Friday :-)

Kinda understandable, since our planes are a little raggy, we do fly a lot, if I had a nice plane I probabaly would have stayed under the tent too!!

PS this cloud thing is ridiculous, Jason was going straight up in a decelerating climb, and stopped and spun down when he hit the clouds, the whole rule was started when Wolfgand flew in pitch black at Superman. IMHO the rule did not apply on Friday the vis was fine!

Default "Stick" envy

A lot of jealous flyers out there wishing they could fly like Jason, Torrey, and Matt. Sounds like a little, ah "stick" envy to me!

Looking good Matt, love that P-80 powered Bandit! Wish I could do that goatee thing myself but they kind of frown on it at work!

Speaking of jealousy, this cold weather sucks! You California and Florida guys have it made! About all I get to do is start up my JetCat once a month and dream of spring. Oh well, it's only three weeks away!

Cloud, schmoud. A few months back I flew my Marutaka Raiden into and out of low hanging clouds and fog out at Floyd Bennet. You know what? It was cool as sin. Bank into the clouds, hold the turn, listen to it, and wait for it to reemerge. One of the most interesting and satisfying flights I have ever had. So it's not a jet, but it's a heavily loaded warbird.
I also have hit the clouds a couple of times back when I was flying sailplanes a lot. You just push everything into a corner and wait for it to spin down out of the cloud. Big whoop.
It really DOES depend who, too. I don't mind Wolfgang Kluhr or Jason flying in the dark, but some other guys, well...I'll watch from under my car.
To our Aussie comrade who asked, well...technically, he may have been violating some rule or another, but nobody cared, so no harm done...I think if what he was doing was that dangerous, there would have been PLENTY of people there telling him to stop.

It seems that the people that are whining about it the most are the people that were not even there. Jason was under full control of his airplane during the whole flight. The times I saw it the plane punched into the cloud but never disappeared from sight.

Matt us Mississippi guys stayed under the tent.....it was not the planes we were worried about......we hav engough sense to come in out of the rain!

Default training

Jason,

I still remember the flying "training" routine we discussed at the AJR, it hasn`t helped my flying though!!!

Default Flight Training

Vin,

I feel that you may not be using the proper training material.

I am sorry to say that in this instance I can not offer you "dual"
Your on your own!!

I have done quite a bit of training today in preperation for the jet together at El Mirage tommorow.

Judging by the results with Vin's flying, I think I don't want to know them. Knowing you two, it probably involves alchohol, women or both. And I don't get much of either.

I'll be at El Mirage by 0730-0800. See ya there.

Tony,

Sad to say it involves neither women or alcohol but I like the way your thinking!!

See ya around 0900
