Default Recessed control horns-Whats the benefit

Im considering using recessed control horns in my L39, specifically for the flap, maybe the aileron.

I wondered if this was merely cosmetic, but if BVM use them in their bobcat, i didnt think it could be.

I would have thought the moment would have been less, so wouldnt have been beneficial.

secondly, with a normal hinge, i thought the control horn should sit over the hinge line. How does this logic work with a live hinge like on the flap on th savex as in th pic?

Default RE: Recessed control horns-Whats the benefit

This type of control horn is normally used on a surface (like a flap) that is hinged on the bottom instead of on the centerline. It works very well with Offset flap hinges like the ones BVM, YA and Tam sell.
