I can guarantee you guys two investors in this project for a couple of kits. Also, I have access to some amazing CNC stuff. I will find you at Waco, we need to talk!

Plus, Mike Kolziek will be there, he is Mr. Thud! Flew, them, built models of them, etc. He will be with us.

I have never met these guys, but have admired their work shown on RCU. Roger and I flew to Kerrville last Wed, Mike was with us, talking about a THUD project, I had no idea he was talking about you guys!

I gotta have a small part in this thing, I'm sure there is some sanding I can come up and do! This is the all time bad ass airplane, and finally in a size that's worth doing!

I can't stand it, I already left a message on Roger's cell phone telling him he should call me back cause I just spent his retirement savings!

I am excited we are gonna see an extremely worthy project of such an undervalued and important aircraft, historically speaking. Looks great, the size is gonna be impressive and the wing will get to work with a little bit of air at this size.

there is a thud at the mid american air museum in liberal KS about 6 1/2 hours from you. if you need some detailed pics, you can climb all over that one. you can even crawl up the thrust tube and through the bomb bay doors if you want, or climb the steps like a pilot to see the cockpit. i took a ton of pics with a 35mm, but still waiting for them to be developed.

    Nice project!

IIRC, the F-105 was the heaviest single engine US fighter.

Hey Paul I can hook you up with the most powerful P-200 you have ever seen to fly that thing! Let me know!

Again, good luck with a great project.

RE: It went Thud when I dropped it......

A Thud almost ruined my AF career before it got started. A long long time ago at a base far away called Holloman AFB, NM a Thud driver hit the water switch on takeoff and the back of the airplane blew off onto the runway. Someone put JP4 in the demineralized water tank. A team from depot came to build a box and take the jet away for repair. The problem was they built a box for a F-104. When they lifted the fuselage to place it in the box the crane broke and dropped the fuselage into the incorrectly built box. Standing there scratching their heads as they looked at the mess of 4x4s sticking through the fuselage they decided to blame the fuels officer and the vehicle maintenance officer for the entire sequence of screwups. I was the vehicle maintenance officer and my best friend was the fuels officer, both of us were brand new 2Lts. After several weeks of grilling from the safety investigators we finally convinced them we didnt do it. They thought it would be easier to go after two newbies instead of the gomer who put fuel in the water tank and rocket scientists who built the wrong box. Well they found out not to tangle with two southern boys and the blame finally got placed on the right people. The good news is that the visibility we received got both of us selected for pilot training shortly thereafter. Pat flew EC-135s and B-1s before retiring as a Colonel. I flew F-4s, T-33s, T-38s, T-41s, and T-43 and retired as a Lt Col. If you guys screw up a fuselage stick a few spears through it for me just for all times sake.
