Hi Andreas,

Put approx 6ozs of lead in the nose for balance. but don't forget I have the pilot & co-pilot fitted & they are fairley heavy.

Also in the nose on the ply plate is a 6Volt nicad, the other being fitted at the front of the main plate.

Still waiting for some decent weather, for the maiden flight.[&o]

All the best,

John C

Hi Jeremy
I strapped my main tanks with cableties, through the speed brake access very simple then I run a long cable tie
to hold the extra tank on right around the 3 tanks it is very secure and easy if you have to take them out
have a nice day down under ,if u need water we can send you lots as we are not getting flying weather[&o]
regards
Andreas

Hi guys, finally I got a new camera. Here are few pics of Hector's plane. The two fuse half with the carbon cloth reinforcement and SB. Carbon cloth is 5.7oz applied with west system.

Not a bad idea, but where you really need the reinforcement is on the bottom of the fuse, in both the forward and aft fuselage halves. It is pretty dicey trying to pick up the L39 by the fuse anywhere except at the formers without buckling the bottom and sides. I used strips of flat 15K carbon tow longitudinally on both sides of the fuse seam, and added latitudinal strips every 5" or so with West Systems resin. Added ~3 oz total but greatly stiffened up the sides/bottom and prevents 'oilcanning' during ground handling.

That's a great idea . I did the same thing to my Boomerang XL , the weight from the glass and epoxy saved me having to add weight to the nose. I plan on doing the same to my L39 hopefully it will solve the "oilcanning" problem and the need for nose weight.

Here are other pics of the rudder cut out and a 8411 servo fit. More carbon to the skin of rudd, stab and wing servo bays.

Barry, I got your point. But for the bottom I'm thinking in using 5.1oz glass clotch instead of carbon. Like in this flash I'm repairing. Notice that the flash have the carbon reinforcement from factory and this one was broke in half. The owener of this plane was amazed when I show him the front part almost repair. My old boomerang XL almost lost his nose in a very hard landing. Here is the pic of the carbon reinforcement as you mention in the boomer, last two pics. In the boomer it only gets few hairline cracks to the gelcote not really broken. I like the idea of using carbon strips instead like some photos in early post here.

Exactly....I did the same but also added two 1/2" wide strips along the length of the nose between the formers. Here's a pic of what I did in the rear - the longitudinal strips are 3/4" wide. I would not bother doing them diagonally next time, just laterally as is shown in the picture you posted.

Jeremy,

Fuel tanks : with a long velcro band all around them ; put some foam under the tanks so they can't slide as well.
I tried first ZAP-A-GOO and then hot glue too but this fails (due to the kerosene).

Julian,

Superb set-up and installation ! That's how we like it !!! [8D][8D][8D]

Congratulations to everyone !

Nicolas.

Hi everyone,
I just joined the ranks of the JL L-39 club.
I'd like to thank Todd from DREAMWORKS for the great service.
I would especially like to thank Nicolas for the beautiful job he did on my equipment tray, it really is a work of art and I would encourage anyone building the L-39 to get the tray. Nicolas service was great and I got it less than two weeks from the time I ordered it, can't beat that!
Thanks again Nicolas for the special engraving.
BRG,
Jon

Hi Andreas,

I write down the number of the photo I want to upload that way you don't duplicate.(Well so far so good )
You can easily change it by going back into the post & edit it using the edit function top right.
All the best,
John

Nice installation by Julian. He must have left something out

Hello,
now, the first Albatros in Schallflug colour is flown, mine will follow in 2 weeks.
I use a Engel PMS light for battery management and FX 40 with RX 6014, FASST.
Further I installed the lights from flugmodellbau.de
I have only to balance the plane, all other is adjusted.

Thanks.....

Nothing left out, it´s all in there, even the cables/ecu for the flugmodellbau.de lights

The pilot on the picture must stay outside, "Gil", F 18 pilot from the "enduring freedom operation"......I will install the Camlex cockpit that includes two nice guys.

@ceffi: very nice cockpit!!! See you soon!!Skype?

Kind regards!

Julian,
Have you flown your L39 yet?

I am still waiting for a break in the poor weather we are having.[&o]

All the best,
John C

p.s. Put my Elite force pilots in. They helped with the balance.

Hi,

yes, maiden flight was last thursday.

Throws: ailerons 25mm, expo 30% elevator 20mm, expo 30%

Aileron throws were just perfect, but next time I will set elevator also to 25mm...

Awesome aircraft, smooth flying.....what else do you want? I´m happy!

If you want to see a fierce firecat , go to You Tube to Attitude Aviation, and you´ll LIKE IT.
Also the mig down by foamie is in Florida Jets 2008.

Also you can find the firecat at www. firecatjet.com

Default RE: What do you think about JETLEGEND L39?

I recently checked the incidence at the wing tips of my L39 and I was surprised to see that it had 1 degree of positive distortion on the left wing tip. That would explain why it has always needed a small amount of left aileron trim. it also had a tendency to perform better snap rolls to the left than to the right and was very ready to drop to the left near the stall. I was able to straighten this out with a weight to bend the wing tip and use of a heat gun. It could be worth checking this out on all models out there as it may be a mould fault?

The new paint scheme is almost done so I should have some pics next week.

Denny
