I found it easier to control from the bottom of the wing, more movement, if you look closely you will see the engraving marks on the wings for the hinge positions, they are applied in the mould.

You may find my build thread useful, link below.

I also placed them on the bottom the first time but I wasn`t happy with the contruction, throw and play that caused this set-up.

So I converted them to the original set-up from the top side.

Throw is more then enough, just like mentioned here in the thread about 72mm I believe, and less play.
Had to remove some material in the small wing part between the flap and aileron otherwise the flap jammed.

Grt,
Berto.

You've gone the full size way then

I had no problems with the way I did it but I did reverse the flap horn to get the throw.

Yes, because of the taper geometry it is neccessary to remove some material from the flaps, the JL hinges are great though because you can easily remove them to work on.

Like the colour scheme on your FB L39,very nice.

I was looking at the Tomahawk ones at Jetpower in the new Brietling scheme, wish I had a bit more cash!

Brg,

Gary.

I also have a Wren 160 in mine and had 128 flights with stock pipe. The JL L39 is a superb, reliable, and excellent flying model which I am sure you will enjoy.

Also, when utilizing the fiberglass bypass .... should the turbine mount (JetCat P160) sit on top of the bypass (so that the bypass edges are between the plywood and the turbine mount) ..... or should I trim away the edges of the bypass where the mount is (so that the turbine mount is on the plywood) ? It's only a difference of 1/16 inch (perhaps it does not matter) ....

I believe the recommended CG (per this thread) is about 6.5 inches back fron the wing leading edge .... is that still the consensus ?

Thanks again. Bob

Not used one in mine either. My C.G is about 6.25" but 6.5" will be okay. Superb flying model. ENJOY.

Thanks for the responses guys. I usually only use the bottom half of the bypass .... primarily to protect the items under the turbine from heat. However, this fuse is so big, and there really isn't anything in close proximity to the turbine, I may not use it.

Hope to fly it next month .... when things finally warm up. Thanks again.

Best buy for the buck I say.
Well done.
I will do a first out of the box reveiw later for everyone on Utube.
Doe's anyone have a cockpit tub for the JL L39 for sale?
I will pay for the shipping.
I realy need one.
So far I like the plane.
Hope to get it up in the air soon.

Hi Michel;
How are you.
Do you still have your F-4?
I will fly this plane at the end of july if time permits.
It is very big but I like it. Just the right size
to fill up the sky and have fun.
It will be my work horse of the skies.
Anyone have a cockpit tub for sale?

Hi Scoobydoo;

You have a Tub for sale
Is that what you mean?
The new JL L-39 doe's not come with a Cockpit tub
You have to buy the full scale detailed cockpit from them.
I just want any tub for the JL L-39.

Had to turn the place upside down to find the tub, as the new version has a different arrangement I'm not sure it would fit so a couple of pics and one of my expensive one lol.
