Default Hello

Plane looks great.

What pipe are you using? A friend has one of these panters almost ready to gear up and has no pipe. To me the stock opening at the back looks a little small, and will likely need some sort of cooling holes or something...what do you think?

And what wheels/tires and brakes did you use?

Thanks in advance

Matt

matt, i made my pipe. good old fashioned shimstock, and my local luke afb metals tech shop. we made templates to jc spec and wrapped the stock around them, overlapping by 1/4inch. It is a dual walled pipe. When ground checked, the pipe ran remarkably cool, the inner at the engine was 400 degrees or so, and the tail around 300. the outer was 90 degrees. We used the ejector action, and its cool, oh yeah we made a bypass too, it all is gr8. Nick

Default HI Nick

Thanks for the feedback.

Can you give me the inlet and outlet dimensions of your pipe?

Thanks very much again,

dimensions are as follows:
inner pipe 85mm front, 80mm back
outer: 95mm front, 90mm back

it just barely fits in through the back of the fuse, but it does.
Oh yeah, we used 6 thousanths shimstock from mcmaster carr. Nick

Default SPEEDBRAKES!!!!!!!

We were doing panel lines, and decided at 90% building, why not do speedbrakes. Molded out of many layers of glass and carbon, and will have a full scale frame in the rear. Looks good though, they are almost done

those panel lines and rivets are just drawn on for now. it is my template for the tape for the lines, and the real burnt in rivets. thanks for the compliments. it is going to be painted in the red blue and yellow, (drone jets). I am going to finish, trim fly it and fly a few times, then sell it to fund a yellow f-16 c, cant wait!

Default pilot

Thats a great jet you are building. One comment though. The pilot you've chosen is a little modern for your plane, isn't he? Blue Box Toys at http://www.blueboxtoys.com/bbi/F_bbi.html makes an F-86 pilot from the same era that would be perfect. Select Elite Force, then Aviators to see a good picture of him.

Did this thread continue somewhere else? the model looks great!

From the guys who have built these, would this be a good model choice for me, I have an OS 91 DF and fly off a grass runway. What sort of gear are you using? any mods or pitfalls I should be aware of? I've flown a number of high speed models (diamond dusts, whiplashes, etc) but this will be my first ducted fan venture....and I really like the looks of the panther.

Thanks kindly for your thoughts!
