Ted,
I'm guessing that trailer theft is not as prevalent in Canada as it is here in the states. Good Luck! I love the graphics, I just wish we could put them on down here.

You got that right John !

Before I ever put airplane graphics on my trailer / van, I should first put big signs on my front door advertising '65" HDTV inside', and signs on the garage shouting "Tens of thousands of dollars worth of toys and tools in here !!", etc

Hey Gordon
If anyone is that dumb to store their jets and valuable equipment in their trailers then I'm sorry to say they deserve to get ripped off.
I don't store any of my jets in my trailer. I use it for transportation only .
I know of 2 people who had their trailers broken into and either one had any graphics
By the way you don't have to advertise, I'm sure that almost every house has at least one tv and I'll bet if you looked in every garage you would find ...... guess what....... TOOLS !!!

Lemee see here.....If I go to a jet meet, should I take the jets out and store them in the motel room overnight?

Naw, I don't think so.

I will leave them in the trailer, like everyone else does, and lock 'er up tight and hope for the best.

I have had four jets stored in my trailer for two months....took them out yesterday cause the weather is turning colder, and snow is in the near future.

Maybe a trailer alarm is in order.......see [link=http://www.trailer-locks.com]trailer locks[/link].... also check out their line of trailer door and coupler locks as well.

BULL.

NO-ONE deserves to be the victim of theft. I hope you remember the above statement if you are ever away at a jet meet for a weekend and someone breaks into your trailer and steals anything that you have stored in there.

Maybe you unpack your entire trailer into your hotel room every night, but if so you are in a very, very, teeny weeny little minority, and suggesting that the majority who don't do that deserve to be riped off is crass to say the least.

I installed a Protec System One in my trailer. Best system I've found so far - will page you up to a mile away if anyone is trying to get into your trailer.

Maybe Ted does not go to events.

From reading the many other posts on the subject, it appears that most trailer break-ins occur while the trailer is at an event/hotel lot.

Aside from a large picture of a TURD on the side, I belive Dougie Fresh's "Duks Porta Potty Supplies" is ingenious.

You can always line the inside of the trailer with those cool images/graphics. It will be like opening up a huge photo gallery

To tell you the truth, I shared Gordon's reaction while only seeing the thumbnail image.

Cool pic though.

Ted, looks cool. nothing like taking a little heat with "how do you guys like the decal?". As nice and friendly as we Canadains are there are scumbags around here too.....just not as many and I think anyone who has a few bucks invested in anything that gets hauled around takes precautions.

Let me know next time your going out, I'll see if I can make it.

The USA leader of the free world has problems with theft in their trailers !! Boy what can we expect around here. There is not too many people around here with trailers for jets or any other type of planes for that matter, but those who have it take some very simple security measurments to avoid problems. Clubs have very simple private security and hotels are forewarned of the importance of control in the parking lot areas.

If you have a trailer(very few do ) you make it nice. Those who don´t have do not have it for cost purposes or for the difficulty of finding one(there are no distribuitors as far as I am concerned). Expect the worst and have the best. We have such a lousy public safety record that we prepare for anything. I don´t know about you but just the fact of owning an RC plane of any type around here calls a lot of attention.

Enjoy your hobby to the fullest and prepare for Murphy´s Laws, it is not hat difficult when you live in a country like the USA, take advantage of your privelages, because NO OTHER COUNTRY has them.

This may be one of the advantages of living in a small country - if anyone should steal a jet here, it would probably take a day or two to find it
if the thief was stupid enough to fly it or try to sell it!!
When we have meetings or shows, we usually have a large hangar with security or simply good locks, and most of the pilots leave their planes
in there overnight. If that's not available, most of us do actually carry our planes inside, trying to find a baggage room or store room inside the
hotel, rather than leaving the plane in the car. I think we are more worried about a bunch of guys coming home from a night out, seeing a plane
and breaking into the car without really knowing what to do with it, and possibly ending up destroying a nice model.

And for what it's worth - I have been considering buying a trailer and would LOVE to have a cool picture of my planes on it!!

Smartest thing to do once you get to the Jet event is to unhitch the trailer and leave it at the field THEN go to the hotel !!!

100% of the time your flying pals and freinds will watch your trailer while they are staying at the field in their RV's...

Just A thought......

Ted,I think it looks great. If your trailer is at a jet meet, parked at a local motel, thieves looking to steal some jets, probably already know what trailers to break into.If I had a trailer,I would like some cool graphics on it.

Peter and Ted, I think your trailers rock, I have been thinking about getting one of those for my trailer as well. I keep my trailer in a garage, but when I go to a meet I leave it at the field instead of at the hotel. Most jet meets have decent security and if a theif is brave enough to break the locks and take what I have in there he probably already knows what's there....
Thanks for the pic of your trailer.
