Ahhh, OK, thanks! I didn't realize that they dig holes. While looking for food I assume.

This is a good site for the F14. Lots of info. Including the position of the lights

Hi guys I wanted to update on my F-14 test flights... Well I got to fly the F-14 with the wings back, absolutely great, this is like a dream come true after seen all those pictures and movies and youtube videos....

Of course the jet comes much more sensitive on ailerons with the wings back, so be prepared to lower the elevon rate on the aileron function quite a bit, but after you set up this the jet is very easy to fly also with wings back.

As usual destiny has a way of forcing me to try things I don't want to.
Due to an electrical problem the wings went back but didn't open for landing so I had to land the jet with the wings back. I was very nervous but actually found out the the F-14 really can land quite well with the wings back, a bit more faster of course but it can land, I was very impressed by this.
It is a situation no one wants but it actually showed me this is posible and now I am much more confident about the flying characteristics of me F-14.

This is a great model, congrats Anton, the F-14 is definitely the best jet out there.

Here a few pictures of the flying of this weekend at Andes Jets, thanks to Seba and Jorge for the great pictures.

Michel

Congratulations Michael.... Well Done... Can you share your travel rates on all your control surfaces. Especially I would like to know the rates with "retracted" wings.. Are you using a Gyro?

Thank you

I really do not know them exactly, I started with factory setting, lowered elevator amount about 10%, also lowered aileron quite a bit as it was too sensitive for my taste.
With wings back I lowered elevon function in about 30% on there aileron movement. With full rate and wings back at becomes very sensitive.
I suggest start with factory settings and have a dual rate function programed in the radio to setup.

I used about 35% expo on surfaces...

I do have the Powerbox Royale SRS with the integrated iGyro but I haven't used it yet, first I must have the jet 100% setup and when I am there I will start setting up the gyro. Anyway the jet fly's really well.

No, that was a high speed low pass. It got huge Uhhs and Ahhs from the audience that was present.

Nice report! I've been watching this project for years. Maybe I'll jump on board one day.

It is an awesome jet Andy... On mine I installed two Jet Central Cheetahs which gibe the F-14 a lot of power, verticals are huge.

I also used the new Powerbus system from Powerbox, this made things really easy to program together with the Royale SRS.

JetsRC if you added all the external stores and had all the options would the cheetahs still give you enough power without being full throttle all the time?

No problem the jet is being flown at half power almost all the time, with full ordinance there should be more than enough power to fly. I would not recommend more than this power for this jet.

Hi,

For those that have already received their F14, please see picture below. You can use washers underneath the bracket that holds the actuator. Then no need to adjust the actuator. New actuators was send out today to customers who have returned actuators.

Customers who are still waiting on F14's - no need for this adjustment. It will be corrected in factory.
