Happy to report, maidened my Tomcatter 106 yesterday at the basin, man was it fun...
First flight was at 118k while second at 116k, still plenty of power, F-14 flew great, very solid and predictable with my trusted DX18 and Cortex. Had to dial in 14% up elevator compensation for full flaps and slats, about 5% for takeoff config. Residual thrust is not an issue, even carried a little power on base and final, and the glide slopes were pretty much as expected.
More work is now needed, weathering, lights.....blings, some more tweaking...., look forward of a lot more fun with this jet, thank you Anton and Li Kai, also Rob for spotting for me yesterday.
Regards,
Barry

Congratulations Barry... I was so impressed with the way the SM F14 flies... The K-210's (de tuned) performed flawlessly... "Gentle Giant".. Seeing it fly from 100 feet away it looked so real.. Nice Job...
Look forward to fly together....

Thank you so much guys! Dave, look forward of seeing yours, be nice to have two in the air or on the ground
Yeah, the 210s are the same size can as the 140, running at a lower RPM and temperature than the 180.

Barry

Congrats Barry! It looks like the dawn of the F14 has finally arrived. I wish I didn't have so many irons in the fire or I would join in the fun. Oh well, I can benefit from all of the good knowledge you all will have by the time I am ready.
Cheers!

Glad it went well Barry! You got it in the air fast. Could you snap some install pictures? Like we discussed on the phone, I'm thinking ecu and pumps in between the turbines. Wim mentioned that there was a lot of space inside, I didn't see it that way. im thinking how the hell am I going to get two turbines in there!

yes, for the more safety reason, the Likai designed the new aluminum wing actuators , we will offering it to all new kits , and we will write the e mail to all owners of F-14 for ask them send back the eletronic cylinders to Likai for update it, Thank you !

Sure thing guys, I'll get some pictures on this thread. I tried to get as much weight as possible to the front, but found that in the end, I had to relocate one of the two ECU battery packs all the way back near the engine to balance. I think it is mostly because of my UATs butting right against the number one bulkhead and Airpower 5 in 1 in the nose. So, if I were to do it over, I'd probably still have the 5 in 1 up there for weight and convenience but probably have the UATs right in front of the center tank.

Barry

Barry,
that is how my install is going: both medium CAT's just behind the aft nose gear former, pumps right behind them, just in front of the center tank. Ecu's and valves next to the turbines, EVU 5 in 1 in the nose along with the powerbox (opted for the Champion instead of the Royal, I won't be using a gyro). Batteries will probably end up in the nose as well.

Thanks for info Barry and congratulations! Can't wait to get mine in the air Did you use the recommended throws or change anything after the first flight. When setting up mine the stab throws seemed huge just wondering if this worked out.
If anyone wants to add a bit of scale bling to their Tomcat then check out my removable probe kit. Its amazing what a big impact little details like these have on the overall look of the model. email me at [email protected] for details.
Cheers, Alex

Barry - thanks for the good info, if you dont mind me asking how did you setup the gear with air valves? Did you use multiple valves or just one EV5 type valve? I doing my typical wish list this jet and trying to plan it out some.
