My Jolly Roger F-14 was supposed to ship two weeks ago, but then SM said DHL was overbooked and could not collect it... hmmm... never heard of that before. They then said the problem was sorted out and it would ship last Monday. After requests, yesterday I got a tracking number, but the tracking says it still has not been picked up. A bit frustrating, was hoping to see it before Christmas.

Hi Colin

There might be misunderstanding. On last Saturday,i did reply that " Both kits are collected on next Monday".The parcel leaves on this Monday. But because working tracking number usually works in several days after box collected,it takes a few days when dhl branch agent successfully hand cargo to DHL hand, then dhl has tracking number that start to work. The econimical dhl system work like this for years.Yes.It is true dhl took too many shipping ordes which delay the recent kit delivery, because of XMAS season.

Best regards

I am amazed at how fast DHL can get something that big to us. Naive question, does DHL service europe?

Thanks John... so if I read you correctly, it was collected by DHL last Monday (15th Dec) and is on it's way? As of this morning (the 20th) it still shows on the DHL tracking web site as just "shipment information received" and not actually picked up or on it's way. When should I expect the DHL tracking to say something more? More importantly, when should I expect it to arrive?

Cheers,
Colin

Hi Colin

We double checked with dhl. They said they limit the quantity of delivery orders every day recently because order volume is beyond their actual ability during this special xmas season time.Believe it or not,i'm telling the truth. You can also check with DHL.Sorry.We are not able to control DHL.The delivery will be smooth after December according to their response. All shipments are delayed to some degree because of DHL issue, not just for your kit.Hope you understand it

Best regards

John

Hi John... your previous post suggested it had been picked up, but the DHL tracking doesnt start for several days after the local agent collects it.

Are you now saying that nearly two weeks after the pickup was booked, it still has not been collected from you?

Cheers,
Colin

At around $1300 US to ship from China to Aus, we are paying for premium service but somebody somewhere is not providing it.

!!!$1300!!!
Im in the wrong business... In-F-ing-sane shipping charge.
The packaging needs to be redesigned or something has to be reviewed to cut that price in half just for starters. Thats ridiculous. Even if the plane has to be packed in several lighter smaller boxes something has to change.

I bought several round trip tickets to China for under $1000. Id rather fly to the factory, pick up the jet after I inspect it, check the plane in luggage, and fly home!

Kinda hard to pack up an airplane 40" wide, 28" tall and 110" long as luggage. And that is JUST the fuselage

I travel with surfboards, they jack you... Golf clubs..no, anything "board". You get nailed... I wouldn't trust the baggage handlers of the airlines with a $13k jet. Skymaster packed this plane as small as they could and did a very good job. 10x better than their old ways.

I'm paying under $500 to get it here including shipping to me in Florida from Oregon. If you order through Chief aircraft, we pick up the freight. All you pay is from Oregon or Deland, FL to your home or business. Super savings. That alone will blow away any other dealers pricing alone. Took a little longer but that is ok. At Chief Aircraft, orders go out and come in by boat. Our orders will be coming in quite frequently to the USA. Chief Aircraft is now a Gold Dealer. Get your order and piggy back on a container. Saves a huge amount.

Mine is at our store in Oregon and should be here in Florida within the next week or so!

Oops one of your pictures answered my question, your ram labeled valve, is that for the main gear locks?

Congratulations Colin, should be big fun.

Fender, the valves are still a work in progress, but what I have so far is:

1 way valve for wheel brakes,

1 way valve for spring/air tail hook,

2 way valve for front doors/front set of rear doors,

2 way valve for rear doors,

2 way valve for canopy strut with inline restrictors to slow canopy,

2 way valve for canopy locks,

2 way valve for speed brakes

I am considering doing away with 1 of the door valves and one of the 2 sequencers, in favour of inline air restrictors on the opening side of the rear doors and the closing side of the front doors at the rear. The rear doors must be sequenced, otherwise they hit each other when closing. May also try and limit the down speed of the main gear with a restrictor. It bangs down and occasionally breaks the 2mm plastic ball joints that are on the gear locking arms. Would prefer metal 2mm threaded ball joints here. Anyone know where they can be bought?

hey Murray,

I think I will be changing some stuff around the gear setup as well, I'll probably replace the 5-in-one with two separate valves, and use or the internal sequencer to the powerbox, or an external one.
I just don't trust the 5-in-1, and I suspect it's leaking some as well...

on the canopy, have you considered the supplied valve?? works like a charm with a slowed servo.... saves a lot of weight and complexity as well....

Hi Wim, May have to have a look at running the undercarriage doors on the valve. I am happy with the 2 way setup on the canopy and will leave that. I didn't want to put another servo and linkage into the aircraft, but may have to for reliability sake.

Muzz I was considering doing something similar by putting the front doors for mains on the nose hear valve. So one valve opens front doors and back doors another valve actions the nose wheel and the last set of gear doors. Then shortly after that the mains drop.
