Sounds like a plan Fender. Getting the timing right in both directions is the thing I am working towards. The sequencers I have work fine, but when you turn the aircraft on, the gear retracts for a moment. It's a glitch, as one of the units is reversed and when switched on runs home to momma for a minute before settling down. So that's not staying in there. Tried rebinding etc, just one of those things that won't be changed when plugging sequencers into sequencers.

this is why i like to use manual valves, i can simple add a delay or slow the servos for some sequencing options. you could also use a button valve to open and close that last door on the mains.

Skymaster web site says the wing/elevator bags are "free", so I would have assumed they came with the kit. My kit did not have them - what have the rest of you found?
Cheers,

I will let you know friday, mine should be here then. They could have just forgot them, give who ever you ordered from a shout. I got mine with my Avanti for free a couple months ago.

I received 1 blue bag with straps that holds all wings and stabs. It is a beautiful bag too and was inside the skymaster boxes that arrived containing the wings.

Hi All. Fantastic thread. I have put mine together and then realised I need to check the tanks and paint the LG so will need to strip it all down and start again. Also going to replace the 5 way valves with some new Jetronics from Dreamworks. Will take my time this time and get it right. Is there really a need to get the plastic casing changed on the wing swing servo's? Tom.

HI All
Just thought I should start posting some pics of the new cockpit I am building for Murray's Skymaster F14. We all know what the kit supplied one is like so this is a totally new version which is part 3D printed and Part CNC machined with good old fashion super detailing modelling.
Here are some pics of the progress so far. The white full print is just a mock-up dash for test fitting in the aircraft.
If you guys have any pictures of the gauges, would you mind posting them so I can use them on the cockpit dash assembly. It would be much appreciated.
Regards Keith

I received mine today, and no wing bags either. I didn't get lucky like most mine showed damaged among other things. I'm not going to recommend the cockpits to folks after seeing mine. I'm going add one from global jets

As you can see this one is a show stopper, the top fins stand out big time. The inner fin is designed to slide, its attached to the hatch locking pin the outer one doesnt move. The inner one was attached when painting so when they moved it to unlock the hatch all the paint layed down bonded the sliding fin to the hatch so it cracked all the paint and it chipped off. They tried to fix it but the paint didnt match so I guess the just let it go and didnt finish touching it up? The outer fin is broke loose from the skin im guess from shipping. I will give a full run down on everything I have found so far and how its handled, I have a build thread on the global forum.

I placed the order in July this was before GJC and SM started up together. I have heard SM always sends out quality stuff, I just seem to have bad luck when it comes to jets. Im sure they will replace it, just bad luck and happens sometimes when shipping these big things around the world.

Sorry Fender to see that damage. I feel sure SM will help out with replacement parts if you send them the photos. They will claim insurance from the transport company.

The gauges are complete now and when dry, I will be mounting them onto the main dash assembly. couple of days and I will post some more pics.

Yeah I sent pics and they will build a new stab, I just have some paint issues that cannot be fixed unless the nose is completely repainted. I'm super bummed, I took the nose outside and it is very obvious. It would have been really nice but since they had to change the decals it didn't come out right the second time. Things like this seem to take the wind out of my sails since I cannot do like most and strip and repaint myself. I will figure something out, the rest of the jet is beautiful as you can see in my build. I Just have the worst luck with jets lol

HI Wim
Thanks for your nice comment!
Would be nice if Sky Master paid me something for the 3D cad files and they can mass manufactured it as a kit in China for there customers. I think they owe it to them. This would keep the cost down and would be a 100 times better than the kit supplied cockpit. Or should I say optional extra.
The 3D files would be used to make an accurate mould and then they can be cast it out of resin in one hit by the hundreds. The one I am making is by 3D printing and CNC machining. Then there is the graphics for all gauges and panels which I am having to do by myself. The graphics then have to be scaled to the ready made dash. I will be using decal transfers as well along with fibre optic lighting and back lighting for the buttons and screens. This is a one off for me due to the hours involved to create it but I will make the 3D files available to people who have purchased this kit. The modellers code if you know what I mean. 3D printers are getting better now and coming down in price and very easy to use. I have always had a thing for the F14 so I jumped at the chance when I went over to see Murrays new toy.
Here are some more progress pics of the dash and ejection seat. The ejection seat is in its very basic form and has no detail added yet. I have rotated the last photo but it still uploads on the piss. Sorry!!

My Feedback: (1)
Keith,
It looks so much better than the supplied stuff..... I sure would like a nicer cockpit in mine.... seats look good to!
one point of attention: Am I correct that you're molding the "D" cockpit? if so, note that the "D" had the NACES seat, identical to the F18. The A/B had the Martin/Baker GRU-7. The NACES-seat doesn't have the face-curtain 'hoops' on top.

Hi Wim
This will be the A/B version. The D also had different screens in the front to the A/B. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the very late model D's had two screens side by side. I think the Martin Baker with the curtain hoops is a bit of a classic for the F-14. They are just so visible from the outside.
