Hi Murray, not it wasn't apparent right away I was doing a turn and the F-14 started to feel more heavy, I the realized that one engine flamed out.
Because of the pipe design on this F-14 which if you see is a bit outwards at the end the F-14 kept flying almost straight, I just had to give some correction inputs to the sticks but nothing much.
The circuits made where of course at full power and keeping the same altitude.
Landing was no problem, I just did not use full flaps so I wouldn't loose speed to quickly, so I added half flaps when I had secure runway and the F-14 landed perfectly.
The circuits whee flown using elevons, very little rudder was necessary.
Hope this helps.

What does that have to do with anything? I'm sorry were you mourning the loss? You are a &&$#$#!! Everyone that has one is now going to be worried if this is going to happen to them, the last thing would be to rest and pretend there is nothing to worry about. This is exactly how the FEJ fiasco started.

Guys I can use some advice, I have been trying to get my mains on my f-14 to function properly. What is everyone doing as far as valve setup or lubing the gear? I have tried several things and still the gear hangs on the up at about 80% full up, I wanted to take the gear apart and clean/lube it but due to the painting SM did after assembly I cannot get the screws out of some parts to disassemble it. I stripped one and stopped so any thoughts? Being only my second SM kit I will never have them paint the gear for me again and if SM is reading this please disassemble the gear before painting if the customer request it. It makes for smoother operation and the ability to take the gear apart for cleaning and maintenance.
Im bringing mine to KY jets, not sure if I will fly due to the lack of time to maiden it before the event but who knows and for the peeps bringing theres just pay me no mind if you see me hovering over your f-14 taking some measurements LOL

Barry, I did not but I did disconnect the air cylinder and the gear moves super smooth. I seems like the geometry is off a bit the piston just doesn't have the push on the last bit of the stroke. I have even redone all the air line routing as well. I have also put the gear on its own air source/air valve to make sure it wasn't an air issue. I think when the air cylinder is connected and it's pushing where it's mounted is rubbing causing some binding. Frustrating

I would love to go hydraulic but nobody makes a system I can retrofit. Plus I lost my source for machining work when I moved here. If I could get a nice reliable hydraulic system I would convert everything.

Aussiebart uses the hobby king system with his jets but opted not to on the 14. One of the other guys did, I have asked for details a couple of times but he has never really given much info.

I have just made up the board for my new plane. I have not much space and have had to fit the items in a space 5" X 5" X 2" mounted vertically like a computer rack. Not very beautiful but it will give you the idea. The tubes at the sides are the connection for flow and return to the small oil tank, the thick wires are for the 2 cell A123 battery. There are 2 servo lines, one switches the pump on until it reaches desired pressure and the other operates the valve to give flow in either direction. They can be Y leaded or connected separately so the pump switch on is timed. (The loop at the bottom is removed and connected to the up and down lines.)
