Hi FenderBean
I watched your video where you showed your Right Main hanging up, it looked similar to an issue that I had with My DCU F-14 many years ago.
I had to adjust the drag link distance to make it work properly. It has been a while but I think what I did was to allow the drag link at the front pivot point have a little fwd and rear play so that it would not hang up.
Not sure that is what is happening for you but it looked similar, hope it helps.

My DCU F-14 was old school 2 X dynamax fans and OS .91's don't remember what year lol.

Could not find pictures of my F-14 here are my friends John C.

Hey Fender, Ill be at KJ, come by the Chief tent. I had issues with the gear but after a few cycles, it loosed up and now retracts with no problem. I use about 125psi. Also, I noticed that the more pressure the strut has, the harder it is to get up. I think its because it puts more pressure creating more friction on the rotating part. It does take 120 to 130 psi though. We will be there from Thursday until following Saturday. We'll get it going!

Aero I will check as well I can always discount it and see if it hangs.
Danny if I can't figure it out by then I will swing bye. How is your air setup? How many tanks and how many valves? Thanks

I have two large tanks. One is for the retracts and the other for everything else. I have 1 Jetronics valve for the retracts, Xicoy electronics for everything else. I use the sequencer in my 28X. I fill the retract tank to 130psi and the other only 100 psi. I can sequence the entire system 3 to 4 times before I have to put more air in. The last sequence the gear doesn't go all the way in but the way the doors close, they push them up and close completely.

Just hook them up to a large air compressor tank and put a servo tester on cycle mode and cycle the gear a few hundred times!
That will loosen them up

has anyone opted not to use the inlet duct tubes that are removable? Just wondering if I didnt use them if there is any airflow issues? Also what what is everyones general battery locations, my two four cell ions will be on the nose. Hoping to mount the turbine packs there as well but that all depends on weight. Thanks

Anton is Skymaster going to provide new longer control horns since you changed the manual stating anything 30lbs and up should have external horns? I was talking to murray after seeing is FB post on adding them per SM recommendations. I was told as long as you have the double control horns per rudder you would be okay. I already installed the original so having to cut the old carbon horns out could end up destroying my rudders.

You don't have to cut the horns out if you go with the external horns. You can cut them off, sand them to be level with the surface and then paint it. Or you can Dremel them out and fill the hole. In either case you won't destroy the rudder unless you're doing the work while downing a bottle of whiskey.

You have to add a new control horns to the rudders or am I missing something? Now if you dont want to add the horns on the hing line like your suppose to I could just glue another horn further back but that isnt the correct way.

You can use a small diameter Dremel tool to clear out the existing horn. I've done this before with horns that needed to be replaced.

It would be such a shame to add external linkages to such a beautiful model... I have an early version of the Skymaster F-18F and it had the internal linkages, to make sure it's safe a buddy machined some long beefy control arms to give an extreme mechanical advantage! I'm flying it with a K210 and have zero issues. Here is a picture of what we came up with:

Hey f14 owners I balanced mine today finally and it's really tail heavy. Is this the norm? I have all my batteries in the noise and will still have to weight. It's probably going to take about a pound to balance it.

Yes the F-14 comes tail heavy, I had to add quite some lead on the nose.

Thanks for the info, I got everything checked and without the missiles on the rails I had to add about 200 grams to the nose. That's actually waaaaaay better than I expected. To put my aft Phoenix rails and the jet is still just hangs below the level line. This is great news, since my wing swing battery is not in the nose and I can move it as need for cg changes later. I'm guessing after I mount an IGYRO on the nose and missiles I will be able to remove all the added weight and then have to move the swing wing battery back to were I was originally going to mount it. I'm happy I took Barrys recommend cg of right on the forward cross beam.

Eric I'm curious have you had any issues with the gear locks on yours and have you done any mods that may help with a successful bird?

For the moment I flight without gyro, even with wing back,, I think in this position the aileron course is to important.
i made some roll and the rotation is to fast
about the gear, I have no trouble, but I change all the durits, and we made a specific system with festo products to avoid lost pressure when you turn off the transmitter or when you want to carry the model with gear up

Cool, what do you mean by "durits?" I wanted to fly mine at the last event but due to the Avanti taking my time and all the weather issues I just lost the motivation. Plus I got some advice on a few things, so I will make a couple mods and try again.

Yeah replaced all my air stuff and have had to fix a couple of the air cylinders that were leaking.
