12 to 14 lb
Does anybody make an A-4 Skyhawk that would be a good match for a 12 to 14 lb class turbine such as a Wren-54 or P-60? Something with a little better scale outline than JHH model?

RE: 12 to 14 lb
Im not looking for blazing speed, just a good looking stable flyer. I am aware of Tamjets a-4 but didnt know it would fly on a small (mw-54) turbine. I think the Yellow bird is a tad smaller than Tams a-4?

Hi,
Yes, the Yellow is smaller than the Tam A-4, though I think I have heard of those flying on P-60 power. With that engine, the Yellow can build out lighter than a DF one. I built one with a friend that was equiped with flaps and powered with a Super Bee. It was a half-pound lighter (dry) than the last two DF ones I had built. It flew fantastically.

If you are thinking 54 size engines & have not purchased yet consider the Wren Supersport. Same size & weight but 4 more pounds of thrust, it may make more airframes available to you. It's simple to limit the thrust if that's an issue. Also the P-70, just a little more size but again it may open more options up for you. Yes, I realise you have to 'draw the line' somewhere.
A friend has a new Skyhawk ARF designed for a 12 - 14 pound engine but it looks a bit small for that size engine. He is going to fit an MW-44 Gold instead. Do you want me to find out the details? It's in the Blue Angels scheme. - John.

RE: 12 to 14 lb
Here is some video. it is really a semi scale model, and flies really well on a Wren 44 gold. Any heavier engine and is not as nice to fly.

Colchester A1 models I think still have one or two left. The fuse is Epoxy and the wings are made up.
