Lost my bandit today due to "PLL error" on 9Z
I was flying my bandit today at Pensacola Jets. In the middle of the flight, my transmitter started beeping quickly. The plane went into failsafe and went in. Anyone else have this problem? I find it weird because Futaba just serviced the radio 2 months ago.

That really sucks. I got this info from the Futaba 9Z FAQ website
What is a PLL error?
"The PLL error means that the 9Z is having difficulty communicating with the synthesized module and is no longer transmitting or not transmitting at full power. LAND IMMEDIATELY if possible, and do not fly until the radio has been fully serviced to avoid possible loss of your model."

Mike,
I'm so sorry you lost your Bandit, you finally started to have a really good time with it. I hope you get another one, if I were you I'd throw that radio in the garbage or just use it at home when you're setting up stuff.
Good Luck and thanks again for being so accomodating this weekend with all of us.

PLL= "Phase lock Loop" in other words, without getting to deep into the Engineering concept, means your Rx failed to "lock in" to the transmitted signal. kind of like when you drive and are listening to Fm and your radio switches between two stations. It will hunt and "lock in" to the strongest signal. Might either be a weak Tx module not putting the required output power. Hope that helps, in either case sorry for your loss.

not quiet, PLL is using an oscillator to shift frequency and phase in the opposite direction of the shift to keep the sum of the two the same via negative feedback. it keeps the transmitter and the module in sync, nothing to do with the receiver, although the receiver has it's own PLL.

holy *****....can this happen on a non synthesized system like the 9cap as well? I only use 9caps and have been v happy for the past few years. I do own a fleet of 5 jets and want to be sure about all these issues. I will eventually move to 2.4..i guess.

No, this can not happen with the 9C. On the 9Z, the transmitter communicates with the synthesized module to set the output frequency. You actually select the frequency from the front screen. On the 9C, you either use the fixed-channel modules or the synthesized mudule where the frequency is set with the dial on the back and a screwdriver...

Mike
Sorry to hear about you New Bandit loss............... Eric had told me about it last night.
I would call Futaba and talk with Krista there she might be able to do something for you more to your liking.
Best of Luck
Just for the record we almost lost a King Cat last week on a JR10x with the Spectrum Module.
Traced it to the Gold Connector on the back that goes to the Antenna 1/2 loose.
