FWIW,

Hi Carsten,

Back with my Gen 3, I did one large for the nose and two large for the mains. I just placed them on the floor behind the cockpit and added a smaller cylinder for the brakes. I know I had more than needed but it was comforting to have the reserve and it fits in there easily. I also had two valves one for nose and one for main.

It is a little odd at times now, looking at the electric brakes and gear I have no air tanks!

Argh Dave
I like Jacks response more
I also added a lot of reserve in my Tomahawk Hawk, but found that it really was not needed, I can cycle the gear in that plane a million times...
I hope that the single one can do the job in the A10 (if it fails, I can easily add another one but would prefer not to because of the layout etc)

I dont disagree. I could cycle many times.

I had one airline problem in all of my flights. One main gear 3mm tube cracked in the nacelle after take off and gear up, probably from the tire compressing it a bit. Anyway 4 min into the flight the gear came down.....thanks to my Gear Failsafe, saved my a lot of time and money.

I would just make sure you have a good gear failsafe.

Carsten, just thinking up loud because I am not familiar with sbus systems:

I don't think that you need to insert the failsafe devise between the receiver and the powerbox.
It can be installed just before the servo (between the powerbox or sbus devise, and the servo or electronic valve).
Be sure that your "Door Open" air line is "T" to the Gear Down line. So, the door opens when the failsafe commands Gear Down.

I wouldn't fly any jewel without a gear fail safe.

Jack,
the problem is that I need to sequnce the front door together with the gear, so the failsafe device needs to be in front of the sequencer.
In the powerbox royal the channels are "virtual", they are extracted from the serial stream from the receiver (SBUS) and fed to the internal sequencer (so they are not available physically but only "inside" the powerbox).
My front door is operated by a servo.
I will anyway get a warning at my 18MZ if the airpressure drops below a certain threshold

I am just waiting for the option price list from them and current kit price too... Emailed them a few days ago, as of yet... no reply
Any help on what is really needed and what is a waste of money will help too

Thanks for any help

I will solve that problem, my Tomahawk hawk isn't finished but my setup will be.. servos for all doors and air for landing gear, as i will use powerbox royal with system bus i can 't conect an airfailsafe
So i will have another air cilinder with a festo valve conect to a servo, once I open the lading gear, the door will open, and the air valve also.
If i dont have air on the main air cilinder, i will open the festo in a second channel, this will send 100psi direct in the line of the valve as everything is open.. the langing gear will open
(use a festo conection in the first cilinder to dont return air for it.. )
I think will work...!!!

mrplay,

If you are in the US - Have you followed the thread here for the Gen 5 kit?
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-j...ld-thread.html
Also contact Woody or Oli at Ultimate Jets in Houston (the USA Dealer for the MIBO A-10 Gen-5).
They may have one of the Gen 5 A-10's in stock?
They are doing a good job with this program.

Thanks for stepping in Joe.

Just to avoid any confusion, Gen 4 has been replaced by Gen 5 and is therefore not available any more.

As the USA distributor for all Mibo product we do support all previous Gen kits however.

Surely, if you have a leak then you have a leak? Opening a valve to a reserve air supply just means that reserve air will leak too?! Unless you are lucky and the leak is a slow leak such that a burst of air at 100psi is sufficient to unlock the gear.....Hmmmmmm

Rcpete,
Go to the Ultimate Jets website and view the updated 5.5 manual for specifics.
As for those parts pictures you show, I checked over mine and can't see anything that looks like those parts on my Gen 5.5.

Cheers,
Joe Grice

Hi Pete
I have the 5.5 as well and I have never seen those parts either. Am I correct in saying you had the Skymaster version of this airframe as well or am I mistaken? Could it have come from that?

good luck with it. I

Pete,
I asked Bogo the exact same question about the parts
I got this answer:

Wooden parts were by old fuselages reinforcement on side of fuselage hatch (your fuselage should already have carbon reinforcement on each side of hatch if not just glue plywood parts on each side of opening. Carbon parts are reinforcement on rear part of canopy. You don't need them because you have complete canopy system already mounted.

Pete,
You will need to put most, if not all your batteries up in the nose for CG purposes. You will probably also need extensions. I added a small door forward of the ladder door for access to the charging leads on the 5 batteries I have up in the nose.

You will end up making several equipment trays, so you can locate the valves wherever its convenient. I have my gear valve forward of the instrument panel and the brake valve aft of the cockpit.

My Generation 4 service door. Everything behind one door.
Still going strong after years of flying.

piece #2,3,4 go around the square opening at the back of the canopy opening in the fuse.

your servo mount was glued in without the screws they stand up and get a clamping plate with 2 nuts to hold the servo in that frame.

I am posting here as the search for the Gen 5thread was making me crazy..

I am building my second MIBO A10. I had enjoyed the new Gen 5, but the flap tracks are simply annoying and difficult to have them all symmetric.

I bought the added work/extra work package. The flaps have wobble to them between 1-2 mm, maybe a little more and they don't center at the TE reliably.

As these were set when I bought it, I can't seem to modify it much. The one end of the slots is glued; the other is removable. I tried two new flaps trying to make it better.

I wish I could scrap the whole thing and go back to the external flap hinges that worked flawlessly.

OR, am I being to emotional about the wiggle of the flaps? Am I giving to have flutter and disaster or just an uneven flap TE line?

Hi Dave. This is not an experimental plane. There are several dozens of users flying the Gen 5, 5.5 and Gen 4 with flap tracks around the World.
Have you ever heard about someone having a flap flutter with this plane?
This just works.
So, don't worry and just build, then fly it!!!!

Thank you Oli.

No I am not aware of flap flutter and I don't mean to suggest any trouble.

I am though not as pleased with the stability of the flap compared to the old style exterior hinge.

I am not sure if I would have gotten this any more "tight" myself versus the extra work package. It seems that the tolerance for a partial mm setting of the track pins limits the position of the TE. I will continue with building, was just looking for some feedback I suppose from others to see if I am experiencing anything out of the ordinary.

It is still a great airplane which is why I am building my second one

Thanks
DD
