LOOKING FOR JET FLIGHT DEMO OHIO
To all experienced Jet pilots in the Ohio area,
Jet Demonstration
The "Corsair Model Aircraft Club" of Tallmadge Ohio is putting on a Warbirds event August 9th at the Summit County Fairgrounds. We are seeking a pilot with the right aircraft and experience to put on a jet demonstration for the crowd.
Field Conditions
We have a 300ft paved runway that can be used for takeoff. Ideally the jet should be capable of taking or landing on grass. There are trees immediately north of the runway that the pilot needs to be aware of if he is planning on flying below tree top level. I have attached a satellite photos of our field from Google Earth so you can take a look at our field and surrounding terrain.
BMV KingCat Demo
I saw a BMV Kingcat jet demo fly out of a grass field similar to ours. It had very good low speed handling characteristics and was able to takeoff and land comfortably on a grass. It seems to me that this type of aircraft (with the right piloting experience) could work out nicely at our field.
Please PM me if you are interested, know of someone, or know of a jet club that I could contact.
Thanks ahead of time!
PS,
Google Earth satellite shot of our flying field, and a link to our clubs website:
Sincerely Yours,
Thomas M. Cichon

Warbird Event Date Conflicts With Michigan Jet Rally[]
The weekend of August 9th is the Michigan Jet Rally. Since we have not finalized the date of "Warbirds at the Summit" I am trying to have it moved either a week ahead of time which is Saturday August 2nd or 2-weeks later to August 23rd. I REALLY want a Jet Demo at our Warbirds event. A Jet is a real crowd draw and everyone will be up against the fence when that turbine cranks up.
I plan to do whatever it takes to make the date more favorable to the Jet set. I will post the new date once I have gone over this change with my club Officers.
PS,
Thanks Jim for letting me know about the conflict!!![sm=thumbs_up.gif]

GOOD FEEDBACK
Thanks for the feedback. I will now focus on sooner rather than later in our meeting.[sm=thumbs_up.gif]
Beyond the fun of having all of those War Birds flying around the real crowd draw will be the Jet Demo and the Stearman Ride raffle. If all goes well and I can get enough commitments up front, we might be able to anchor the Stearman at the Kent State airport for the afternoon. It would be a lot of fun watching the Stearman occasionally orbit our field from a safe distance during the event.
If I can get one of you guys on board I'm 1/2 way to my goal

"WARBIRDS AT THE SUMMIT" EVENT DATE CHANGE
To eliminate potential conflicts between "Warbirds at the Summit" and known Jet events in the Ohio area during August 2008, "Warbirds at The Summit" has been moved to Saturday August 2nd 2008. I will post an updated and final version of our event flyer.
I hope that this adjustment will make it possible for a pilot with the right combination of aircraft and experience to put on a jet demonstration for the crowd.

WARBIRDS AT THE SUMMIT UPDATE
Stearman Ride for Raffle Winner
I have locked up a Stearman pilot that will fly the winner of the raffle over the event in his Stearman (all model aircraft grounded of course). I think he is also interested in spending the entire day at Kent State airport (close to our field) to give rides to all those who are interested for a fee.
Jet Pilot Commitment
I am still looking for a firm commitment from a "Stud" jet pilot for the August 2nd event date. August 2nd is getting closer and I would really like to get a commitment from someone.
Thanks to everyone who has shown interest.

300 Ft?
I flew a bandit and a kingcat on 400 ft and it was B.A.R.E.L.Y. enough. And the approach was clear on the 400 ft I flew on. I won't be flying there agian, that's how "unfun" those landings were.
If the overrun is fine, then it should work, 'cause that Kingcat will use up every last foot.
It is tough to aim and be less than 10-50 ft off of where you want to touch down..... But I'm just a mere mortal...

WARBIRDS AT THE SUMMIT - Event Update
I thought it would be appropriate for me to update everyone here on the spectacular success of today’s event. I think its important to note that one of your own "RCGUY" came through for our club IN A BIG WAY and performed a Jet Turbine demo. Let me just say that it was truly spectacular! RCGuy had the entire crowd pinned to the fence watching. Pilots and spectators were all scrambling to get the best view.
To give you a feel for the size of the event we had 47-pilots and 71-aircraft attend. The crowd by noon must have been between 300 to 500 people.
RCGuy flew a flawless demonstration and the aircraft he brought to the event was a perfect fit for our field conditions. The man was in the Zone!
A few weeks ago I went to see RCGuy fly at an All Jet event. I knew I had the right guy after watching him fly. I can't help but compair the significance of his performance today in comparison to the All Jet event. A few weeks ago he was just one of many, today he was a GOD!

Tom,
Thanks for the kind words! A most enjoyable day! A good turnout for a first time event! The club hospitality was very generous. Many good questions were asked and I had a GREAT time doing it.
All the best of success in future events!

A GOD??!!
Oh my God... I mean oh my Dave
I'll have to find a new spotter, I'm not worthy.
I meant to ask you about the demo Dave. I didn't realize it was this week. I'm glad to see you were a hit and the "Reactor" was the perfect plane for the field.
Looks like a nice field and good people.

Had a great time. A single flight at the noontime break. First impression of a TURBINE powered plane for many club members and spectatotrs alike. Good bunch of guys and the field suited the "Reactor" just fine.
"Now if I flew the KingCat with smoke.....OMG!"
