Nice Sinsheim Museum decor. Never saw service in these markings as far as I know, but very attractive

My Mig-15 is ready for the season. Had a rough landing last year and hat to repair some minor damage on the wings and fuselage. This one is quite old, I believe one of the first models from "Fiberclassics" back then.

have to focus on land her slow enough (without bouncing) anybody tips for that?

Need a good pilot-figure. I have the Chinese one w.leather-hood and all but I really would like one with a bone-domed helmet more like what was used with Warzawa-Pact Countries in the late fifties. Not neccesarely full figure. Any tips?

Hi Frank,

don't use flaps for landing but do use speed brakes. Use up trim to slow her down and be prepared for a long flare to really slow her down. The secret to landing without a bounce is to slow her right down and hold the nose off.

Craig,

Why don't you use flaps for landing, if I may ask? I put a Cortex Gyro in the mig and will test fly next week I hope. Bouncing when too fast for landing is a real PITA on this plane

Cheers

There are four carbon laminated parts that come with the kit that I can guess are there to make a sliding canopy, any one know how to use them ?

Making a sliding canopy is more of a do-it-yourself-job. To my knowledge none of the parts in the kit is intended for this. It can be done however........

Hi tuggs,

our resident mig 15 expert gave me this advice and said it helps the mig settle and stay planted a bit better rather than having the wing generate more lift. Wing loading is already very light. The instructions also advise not to use flaps for landing, just speed brakes.

Hi leider, no parts included for sliding canopy, have to engineer this for yourself. Here is mine....

If the flaps are still generating lift then not enough flap angle is being used! I land my GJC Mig with as much flap as I can get and power to suit. It's important to mix the elevator for level sit. I have only ever flown one CARF Mig 15 and it landed fine with full flap and some power. Its like many scale airframes, you should not stall it onto the ground, fly it on. Same is true for my CARF Hawk and DJ Vampire.

The parts are the rear flat deck in the canopy (needs holes drilling) and the canopy frame loop brace.

I too have put forward this issue in the past. Problem is, when I ask 5 people, I get five different answers! It goes from absolutely no flaps for landing - eventually about 15 degrees (same as take-off flaps?) Flaps in conjunction with speed-brakes or brakes only.... Typically one come up with a Mig of some other brand landing fine with/without. I`m getting confused! It certainly looks like this particular CARF-MiG have some snag of its own when it comes to wing-loading/landing-style?
Therefore - I hereby adress those of You who have some/several fligths on this special model, - wich is true?
Should I use flaps for take-off.......How much? Flaps for landing.......How much? Speedbrakes,- speedbrakes and flaps? I feel we need to get this sorted out once and for all as I see no need for overly risking my beautiful nose-leg. Thank You for chiming in

Ok, this is a GJC Mig 15 and when it was released people talked of the same bouncy landings. This is a near 90 degree cross wind landing full land as always. If its calm, I add airbrakes too. landing at the end www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI-7YULBNjA

These look like Flap landings. www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_OOte_tRNQ

If you landing any aeroplane perfectly on decent, you can get away with little or no flap, but its not right! Always take off with some flap....with any aeroplane.

Thanks for the input Dave! And Yes this guy is using the flaps,- but no airbrakes. (pretty much looks like he knows what he`s doing anyway. Trick is to hold the nose up at correct speed by the looks of it) Still leaves me a little in the dark thou.......
C`m on fellas, - You got to have some experience that others don`t ???

Well, same question here,
as I mentioned I had only two flights; first flight ended in a bouncy landing (luckily without any damage),
second flight I was prepared, slowly pulling to full up keeping the mig just off the runway until it stalled resulting in very nice landing.
I just don't have the feeling that i'm in control enough though . . .
both landings where with half flaps and airbrakes,

cheers,

Frank
