Default Night activities at jet events?

I am a rookie in the jet world. I have managed to get in a whopping 7 turbine flights between the blizzards since I got my waiver last November.
I am planning to attend a couple of jet events in the Midwest this coming summer.
Having never been to a jet event I have some questions.

Since the AMA in its infinite wisdom has outlawed turbine flying at night..........

While at multi day events that allow on site overnight camping, is it normal and or allowed to have other non turbine aircraft flying at night.

My sole experience in multi day events is with heli only events. We can and sometimes do fly helies and an occasional airplane till the wee hours of the morning and at the big events like IRCHA there is almost 24 hour a day action.

I just don't want to show up at a jet event and get yelled at right away.

Naked night flying was demonstrated with the help of John Daniels a local Jet fly in here. I have seen night flyers of all types at jet events, including trying to shoot them down with paint ball guns. Again with the help of John Daniels.

I have never heard of night flying not allowed of any type of aircraft. Hit as many rallies as you can, they all have their own uniqueness to them.

Most guys are working on their landing gear while sinking a couple Chipulas and maybe downing a few adult cold ones...

it is always a good idea to check with the CD. if the event is at a "normal" field, it shouldnt be a problem. if the event is at an airport, there may be some restrictions to flying after and before certain hours.

I just received the new generator for my camper, so now I just need to find some destinations that are not too far away.

You could alway shoot paintballs at naked fliers named John - I'd think thats a good option too! [8D]

LOL !!

We had a neat nightime field event a while ago ... Duk-duk brought a great (high-def) movie projector system out and we hung a white sheet from someone's trailer ; we watched some short movies followed by an RC-photo slideshow. We had "audience participation" that kinda reminded me of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Although I applaud your forward thinking and the effort, this will happen no matter what.

As for night time activities, two words:

farting contests

The winners are then celebrated by the traditional "hurling of the freedom fries" at the nearest Chilis.

Some things never change.

Chilis was a good time Matt......One of my all time favorite times......right up there with;

- electric helicopter "Wars" in the hotel lobby.....$145

- going "Off Campus" and taking an elevator ride....$120(for the lift) + $150(to the "house") + $250(for the "talent")

- Doug getting revenge on Dave for the "stirred" drink, with his special "C[X(]ckassada" dinner.........PRICELESS

evenings at these events, hanging with great friends, is what its all about......GOOD TIMES....GOOD TIMES!!!!

I think he meant Jack Daniels.

Come to our meet here in Ky. (Blue Grass Jet Jam). We eat like pigs, and I do mean the whole pig. And maybe some home brew. Dennis

It sounds like I may have to brew up a batch of some local Heli cuisine (dumb Balls) to introduce to the Jet community.

That should get me into plenty of trouble for my first year.

Actually the night life after the rally is where it's at. Good times with the fellas may include the following:

1. Turning the hotel lobby into the " Indoor Heli Classic Invitational"

2. Grubb'n at the local "Outback"

3. Taking a trip to a "performing arts festival" where you get to (as James previously stated) drop more loot per minute than it takes to run the space shuttle

4. Coming back to the room late and waking up the Mcbrizzle with the Llama to the junk

God I can't wait for the next one.

Most of the night time events at the jet rallies I've been to aren't usually things you want to post info about on the forums.. especially if you go with Strawboss and Tam.

Alcoholism and other compulsive disorder seem elevated in the jet part of this hobby.
Or is it like this through the entire hobby?

IF you come to the Blue Grass Jet Event, there is night=time activities. It is amamzing what fun a bunch of rednecks can have with a Nitroplanes Bobcat, a roll of duct tapes, and a box of glow sticks......
