Deans Antenna
My hobby store told me that his distributor now shows the deans antenna as a discontinued item. I will call them tomorrow to confirm.
I put an ad in items wanted, but in case you don't normally look there and have one or more in a package you would be willing to part with, send me a PM.
Thanks.

RE: Deans Antenna
If I were you, I would not bother with a dean antenna go with a Revolution and you will be a happer camper in the long run. I used a Deans antenna and is unwounded on me and I lost my jet. I may have a Revolution new in package laying around in my 72Mhz no longer need pile.
I am glad thoses days are over with 2.4 :-)

RE: Deans Antenna
Keith,
The Revolution antenna is actually a better made unit. On the Deans, the coil is mounted to a board then just plasti-dipped to shield it. Vibration can actually break the coil on the deans (happened to me, plane was totaled) The revolution has the coil molded into the plastic housing during the manufacturing process making it impossible for the coil to separate. They are designed to work on helicopters but work great on jets, even housed internally...

Hi Keith,
Let me know if you want the Revolution whip and I will put (2) in the mail for you in the morning. My compliments of course. Thanks for all your work in JPO. I have heard good things re: the revolution for those that want to go the whip route. I have converted all of mine to Spektrum. Both of these are new in the wrapper.
Best regards--Ad Clark

RE: Deans Antenna
My two cents...
NO way on HELL would I fly a revolution antenna. I have used Deans for 25 years in helicopters and have NEVER had a single issue. As matter of fact, the JR repair station used to be right here in Las Vegas and so I would take my recivers over to have them "tuned" to the Deans. One day I was having a new RX set up but the local hobby dhop was out of deans so I bought a revolution antenna...the radio tech could not get it to tune anywhere close to an acceptable range, we tried two more and still no good luck, we then tuned it to a used Deans I had and not only could we get it tuned perfectly it was actually working better than the stock wire.
Would not use one, could not give me one, ever....

RE: Deans Antenna
Here's my two cents..
Out of all the years flying helicopters and going to more than a few heli fun flys I have never heard of anyone have trouble with a Revolution ant.. I can not say the same for the Deans ant. I have had helicopter flyers tell me they would never use a Deans and go out of the way to tell people to stay away from them.
Personally, if you gave me a Dean's I would be afraid to give it to someone.
I can't say I have had trouble with the Dean's but that's because of all the bad stuff I've heard over the years....I was always afraid to try one, especially as good as all of my Revolution antennas have worked.
Just my 2 cents.

RE: Deans Antenna
[The only reason I don't use them now is I have converted to 2.4! ]
That's the same with me.
I had one installed on my Bobcat and as high as I could see to fly it, I tested it and it never failed but the 2.4 did the Revolution in.

RE: Deans Antenna
Didn't mean to spawn a debate here ... I'm sure they are both good antennas, and each probably has had some problems too.
I have used Deans for a number of years, and as was pointed out, my range checks nearly doubled. I'm just sticking with what has worked for me.
I will eventually go to 2.4, but not quite yet ......
Thanks again for the replies and the help finding a couple of antennas.
