Electrodynamics has joined the ranks of sponsors for Jets Over Kentucky. This marks their third year of participation. They have also agreed to sponsor one of our pilot awards (Special Recognition). Post #19 has been changed to reflect their sponsorship of this great award! That only leaves two more to be selected...Best Ducted Fan, and one Special Recognition. Thanks again to our many sponsors.

Eagle Tree Systems today announced that they too would be a sponsor of Jets Over Kentucky. Their fine line of products are the envy of every pilot. Their gift will also be given with the drawing of flight tickets. Make sure to get a ticket with every flight.

Tony Stillman has just sent discount certificates for repair service at Radio South. Tony and Radio South have been a great service to our sport for many years. We're happy to have them back as sponsors for this year. Check out the sites of all the Jets Over Kentucky sponsors, and let them know how much we appreciate them.

Days Inn of Springfield, Ky (4 miles from the airport) has 50 rooms available. The phone number is 859-336-7550 for reservations. The Hampton Inn has already sold out for the event. These 50 will go fast, so hurry. The price is 67.00, but event rates will be available when the manager gets back in town. Go ahead and book now; you will get the better rate next week.

Will the airport be open to full scale traffic during the event?

Thanks,

Yes it will be open, but we only have 3 or 4 flights in or out daily. A notice will be issued, and we may have fewer than that. No other scheduled interruptions, demos, or anything like that. Fly each day from sun up until dark!!!!!

Closing the airport to full scale traffic is not an option that Lewis can even consider. The FAA will not, under any circumstance, consider any proposal to close an airport to full scale traffic for any reason or for any length of time, no matter how short.

I have been to this event every year and the full scale traffic hasn't been a real issue. Lewis has folks with Unicom radios that communicate with the full scale pilots to allow the jet pilots to clear the airspace in an orderly fashion. The coordination has worked very well in my opinion.

Lewis does his very best to make sure everyone knows when there is full scale traffic inbound or about to depart. Sure, there will still be some instances where the announcement might be made right after lighting off the engine (I don't like a wasted engine cycle any more than anyone else) but I can assure you Lewis will do everything he can to minimize that happening. In my view it's a small price to pay for the luxury of the use of such a nice airport.

This year to avoid wasted enging cycles, the start up will be moved to an area near the runway. The area where Paul is standing will be the start up. That way we can be apraised as to flight situations both ways. Everything is looking very well at the moment. We will begin setting up monday for anyone arriving early. Flying can begin immediately. We have about 300 pictures left from last year. Here are a few.

Steve,

My Father in law wants to fly up in his Bonanza to the meet and asked if the airport would be open so he could land there.

We have fantastic accomodations for motor homes. There is a very large concrete pad available (200x250). There also is a large grassy area not far from the flight line.

Quiet Flight RC and Indie Images are two more new sponsors to the event. Quiet Flight is offering a very nice package. Here is his message about the event.

"I have arranged a nice package for the Pilots Raffle Brushless Motor/ ESCw/BEC/ Receiver/ Servo,s Roughly a $200.00 Package".

Thank You Very Much.
J A C K (QUIET FLIGHT R/C)

Jim Baird of Indie Images will be there for custom photography. Jim does a fantastic job, and I'm sure you definitely want him to feature your model in a custom setting. Jim did a fantastic job getting a great shot of this Corvette.
