Makes sense. I think I will try Biela 24X14x4. Thanks.

Hi !

If it is a k60tp, which is more powerful than a stp5, I would go for a 24x16-18x3 or even 26x16x3, if these sizes are available. The most important thing is to keep rpm down. I fully agree with kingtech with 5 k on ground. See attached vid, where they are using a 26x24 on a k100tp !!!

Hi Dave
That looks pretty sweet. Do you know what lighting package was used on this one. I don't think Comp Arf sells one anymore for this airframe do they.

Thanks
Alan

It's a mix made up of a UK company Braincube and uni lights. I think Ian added to cover all the points, they showed up really well!

They are all Braincube including the controller and the nose leg light which I made myself out off HD 5mm LED and lens etc

Hand made the light holders and lenses/covers I moulded them myself, took a bit of time but well worth it as Dave said

Hey that great Ian. Would you be able to take some close ups of your moulded holders?

Thanks Alan

Hello can anybody tell me with the kingtech turboprop engine if I can modify rpm to bring lower idle or not recommendable? And has anyone used a gyro I have been told by a couple of people it is not necessary to use gyro. I have a demon cortex that wanted to install, but have not heard from anyone if they have been using one. My plane on idle does not stay still. Is that normal with turbo prop engines?

Install your Cortex. Your airplane does not require a gyro. But it will be more enjoyable with one. Especially in windy or crosswind conditions.

Depends on the turbine! The most refined units have a lower idle thrust and still accelerate.
The Tucano I test flew recently with a JetCat sat still on a super smooth asphalt runway...

Thx for quick response. Like I said I am using kingtech and the question was if I should bring down the rpm on idle to have plane sit on runway. Anybody know?

Hi Alan

Sorry for the slow reply.

Here is a pic before trimming and mounting, once mounted I painted the edges to match the wings. Made out of 1/8 ply

These were the tip Nav and strobe, and used a similar approach for landing lights

hope that helps.

Ian

I just ordered my CARF Tucano and getting caught up on the build threads. My question is, I see a lot of folks using the double rudder servos for the pull-pull.. just curious if that by design or recommendation. I was planning using a secraft or SWB 1x servo with offset bellcrank. picture below. I'll be going JR so was planning on using the new NX8931 (DS8911 replacement) with torque of 506 oz/in at 7.4v. I'm assuming this will be plenty???

As often the case, it's not so much servo power as flutter resistance and 'shock' knock load when you clip the rudder manually handling the model. One servo has a small gear contact, the two linked share the shock load and flutter resistance on what is a huge rudder.

Hi Dave, Clearly explained and that clearly makes sense. I was just looking at it from a torque perspective. I see your point. I am going with the SPT-10, so I think you have me rethinking a single servo setup.

Thruster, the flight looked excellent and your tailored Pilots look great. Are those the 1:4 size? if so, did the cockpit need any adjusting to fit them?

HI Ian
Great flights, the dusk flight I liked the most high lighting your well done lighting install. Beautiful and graceful, maybe not the scheme of the Brazilian Air force but hat was way I remember them flying when they came to Canada in years past. That made me fall in love with this airframe. Good luck for future flights in 2017.

Alan
