Countryboy, Woketman,
I just love the Behotec 165, starts every time flawlessly and gives troumendous power. Actually i bought the 165 for the C arf Eurosport, but ended up installing it in the XL. Planing to buy another one for the Eurosport.
By the way Peter's sevice at www.altecarerc.com is second to none.

Hi Guys
I have 83 flights on My Boomer, most of them off my local grass field
I have Jet A1 struts on the mains and a Behotec nose strut ,not a single issue. I strongley recomend a trailing link strut for grass field operation
Enjoy your Boomer

Great to hear! Are you using the Kero start option?
[/quote]
I have the propane version bought a years and a half ago. Have not upgraded it to kero start although heard a lot of good things about it. Will probably do when i will send it for 25 hours service/inspection.

I have also not heard or read any negative comments on the Behotec Kero start option. The one I recently purchased came with the Kero plug...I consider it an added bonus. The original owner had planned on installing it in a Rookie, but found that he would have to cut into the fuse for clearance. Not wanting to do this, he reinstalled the original plug and used propane.

Hi Mark:
This is my very old(first batch delivered to the U.S.) version 1 BXL. Gary Mueller and I did the design on the 127 oz fuel tank a couple of years ago. Mine is powered by a Rhino and gets up and goes with 8.5 minute flights with enough residual for at least 3 complete circuit go arounds.
Our club now has at least 5 BXL's at last count with close to 1000 cumulative flights over the last 2 flying seasons. Power varies from P-80, P-120, and my Rhino.
Most of us use JR 8411's all around except for 2721 to save a few bucks on the nose gear and micros for the retracts and brakes although most of us have switched to electronic brakes.
I use Sandor's Jet-1A spring down gear and love them. Other guys are using Robart's and Dreamworks with success. The original Series 1 like mine required a little fiddling to get the mains to fit, but now Sandor's and Dreamworks' fit on the Version 2 without mods. We have added some carbon fiber plate to all the gear mounts to toughen them up for our grass field and the occasional dorks on landings.
We all use about 80-90 deg flap and about 1" at the tip, up aileron crow. On a windy day you can helicopter it in.
I have a 32 oz smoke tank under the aft radio board with a Tamjets Smoke pump.
All planes tend to come out tailheavy, so plan for either heavy bats like Nicads on the battery plate or lead up in the nose.
Tom

Glad to hear ya got one also, I just got mine right before Christmas, I'm waiting on a replacement boom as one of mine got damaged in shipping. Did yours arrive ok? Did you sell Tito a Roo awhile back? If so, I ended up with it, but decided to go with the XL due to my field at home being only 600ft of grass. I have been putting a pilot bust in mine that I bought of Ebay to match the Thunderbird scheme.

Mine came in alright! I sold the roo to Tito. I've liked the XL since I saw it a couple of years ago at Miss Jets. Looks like it's going to be a fun Jet for sure!!!!!
I'm having a hard time justifying spending almost as much on the landing gear as I did the jet though!!!!

Highhorse,
Yes, I glad you have the info on the gear. I thought possiably there was another set of gear that might be a better set to purchase. As I will within a month be buying the gear for the XL but have been working on what I can, but one of my booms got damaged in shipping and I'm waiting for Patricia to ship me the replacement to me. What servos arm lengths did you use for the airframe.

I never flew the roo.. I think that the guy started to paint the jet for some reason???? Don't know why. I like the flag scheme that was on it.
