Who all is coming this year with $4/ gallon gas? I'll be there weather permitting. Hopefully with my new Zirioli Tubinator.

It takes place every Memorial Day weekend, Saturday and Sunday. It's a great time to be had.

Yeah, telling you where would be helpful. It's held at Fentress Naval Auxillary Landing Field in Chesapeake, Va. It's a great event. Frank Rega normally CDs the event. He's a longtime friend of mine and a great guy. He's on RCU as Rega1 I believe.

We have a gaggle on NC jet flyers coming this year. I know of at least 4 maybe as many as 8.
The hotel room (memorial day weekend) used to be the most expensive part of the weekend, now it looks like the gas to and from will be the expensive part.

I'll be there on Sat or Sun. Whichever day looks better weather wise.

Ron,
Are you and Jim going to be there both days?

I'll be there Friday with a surpise. THE "trash can" Maverick is back. This time powered by EVF 10S. At Frentress in 1998, some guy, don't recall name, crashed this maverick and was trying to sell the parts. Anthony and I looked at the jet, looked at each other and decided we could rebuild her better and faster than ever. I think we paid him $150.00, not sure. Over the winter we gutted the jet, replaced the nose, rebuilt the wings and stabs, the whole nine yards. We flew it the next several years at various events and at Jets Over the Swamp one year, Bob V. declared the jet "The Trash Can Maverick". "You see that jet, they pulled that thing out of a trash can."
The jets was sold to Rod Synder,TN and Top Gun fame at Florida Jets one year and thats the last we heard of it. Moving ahead 10 years to Florida Jets 2008, I was talking with Rod and asked if he still owned the Maverick. To my surprise he still had it. Several weeks later I drove to Tn and picked up the Maverick which still looks the way we left it 10 years ago.
Can't wait to get her back in the air.

Keith

Interesting story. Kind of a "what goes around, comes around" but in a good way.

Anthony and Keith,

It is that time again. I cant believe diesel is going to cost me close to $5.00 dollars every 8 miles pulling the camper!!!!!!!!!!!
I am putting the finishing touches on the Electra. I will be leaving around 9:00 AM Friday. See you guys then. Plenty of toys
to fly this year. Will be broke when I get there

Wow,
that is a blast from the past. We had a great time rebuilding that plane. That has to be the best flying maverick we have ever flown. It was done dirt simple also. We played around with so many odd details, with guns, f-16 orange tint canopy, camo paint scheme.
I installed my 2.4 stuff last night in the Sabre and Mav Pro. Oh, I also pulled the original battery from 8/2000 from the mav pro. Yes, the Chrome Illusion Maverick has been around 8 years, on the SAME RX Pack. It was just too hard to get too.
Easy installs.

See you guys on Fri.

Yep,
Thats the one, 8 years, same battery pack. I do not normally do that, usually replace after 3 years regardless. Probably lucky. I did discover one thing last night, the Y -harness to the elevators was bad and had to replace that while I was at it. The plane really could use a good overhaul.
I may spiff it up and sell it to someone that wants to put an EVF in it.

Will fuel be available for purchase at the field? Can someone post details as info seems to be a lil scarce.

Thanx,

SK, no fuel will be available onsite, but there is a BP station at the corner of Centerville Turnpike and Mt. Pleasant (3-4 miles from the field) that sells pump kerosene; that is where most of the local flyers buy their kero.
