JetMach Sport 60 flew today ***now with video
Check it out guys. Here is a cool little project that finally came to fruition today.
Awhile back we decided to make a low wing version of the JetMach. With lots of other projects going on, it took a bit.
But it was finally finished this week and we got a chance to fly it tonight.
It flew better than we expected. The flaps are incredibly effective on landing. You drop them out and cruise in at 30% power to land which is what we wanted. No all day glider.
Take off roll was about 150 ft and it headed straight up.
Everything felt great, like a 4 star 120 on steroids.
I never got the throttle past 60% in flight but it was moving out pretty quick.
Weight is around 18lbs fueled and power was a P-60.
It has Spring Air retracts and Intairco brakes.
We will be putting some color on it this week and it will be flying this weekend at the Austin Jet Rally.
The kit will be available after we make sure there will be no structual issues.

RE: JetMach Sport 60 flew today
Took the plane out to Austin.
The plane flys better than we expected.
First flight we had an accident though.
The datacable came out of the ECU and we had a flameout.
I was at the far end of the field and made a left turn when I should have gone right.
I costed downwind and tried to slowly turn back upwing and set it down.
But before I was totally straightened out, I clipped a tree!
The plane cartwheeled through the branches and we could see from the runway that it looked like a total destruction.

When we got to the crash scene it looked bad.
Everything forward of the wing was in about 200 parts.
We collected all the pieces and and brought it back to the pits where we decided to try and rebuild it at the field.

Everyone there was very helpful and offered glues, glass, monokote, irons, sandpaper and any tools we needed.
Slowly working forward from the wing it started coming back together

The next day it was done!
It was the pretriest but we went on to put 4 more flawless flights on it and it performed perfectly.
Even got to do some formation with Barry's Reaction 54.
Very happy with this design.
