RE: Chippy Ho Part Deux
Hi Raf,
Looks great. Get it up in the air soon. Well, only after you solve the leaking air cylinders. I have found some similar problems on other air cylinders too. I am sending some replacements over here to California. Will send you a couple of them.
Mike

RE: Chippy Ho Part Deux
Hi Raf,
Nice pictures, thanks for sharing. Reading about your problems with the air cylinders, I am wondering if any brand of cylinders are dependable. I've read other threads with people having problems and there doesn't seem to be any brand that doesn't leak. One cylinder, in particular, people seem to like is the BVM one. At 27.50 each it's difficult not to go with Air Power or Tam's cylinders. I guess if BVM's cylinders are as dependable as I have read, it might be worth the extra money for them. I would like to stay close to home and pick use Tam's products when I can. Anyway, thanks for the pictures Raf. Any chance of a getting a few more pictures of the gear doors on the mains and the nose?
Raf, I noticed you didn’t use any carbon fiber reinforcement when you installed the gear. Does it really make that much difference with of without it?
Thanks Raf,
Wayne

I've been really happy with the cylinders I've bought from Tam.
My blue angels f-18c has seen its fair share of abuse and it does not have any carbon fiber ont he gear mounts. I didn't put any on this airplane either. Any jet of mine that can survive over 200 of my landings, has to be able to stand some abuse!!
Oh, and Ehab, I'll give you credit for teaching me to check the gear before EVERY flight EVERY time. And I still do it every time before every flight. Just like I peruse my preflight checklist. The only jet guy doing it!![sm=thumbup.gif]

Thanks Raf, you told me what I wanted to hear. I can stick with Tam's equipment. I also like your answer on the carbon fiber reinforcement of the landing gear. It looks impressive but if I don’t need it all the better. I’ll just do like Ehab suggested and check the gear before each flight.
Thanks again Raf,
Wayne

Here's some pics with the extra yellow and the ordinance.

Wouldn't it be better to keep the wings grey and just have them put together with better material and glue ?

Ouch!!!!!!!!
Careful Gordy; You do not fly as much as Raffy does, hence you are no good and you are a lower class modeller...
Let's meet at the field sometime and teach Raffy how to land

Michel,
Glad to see you got a SUPA HORNEE again!!! [sm=thumbup.gif]
And Ehab, I'll respond because its so much fun to outfly you and outland you!!! Don't get mad 'cause you don't have any jets to fly and you hate this country so much you want to go to another country. Its ok man, I still love you.
When you actually get off your lazy butt and maiden that F-4 that Ian built for you (leave it alone and just fly it). Once your done going around the field 10 times 'cause you can't land it and BEG me to land it for you, I'll think about it!! But knowing you, you'll just crash it blaming the cross wind or being "shot down" on 2.4 "not so" FASST or who knows what you'll think of.
Remember that sig 40 with a PST 10 you flew in thailand is not quite a phantom homeboooyyyeee!!!

Just wondering ... is the "extra yellow on the wings" part done so that it's easier for me to locate all the pieces the next time your wings depart the airframe ?
Wouldn't it be better to keep the wings grey and just have them put together with better material and glue ?

Yes, Gordon. The yellow is for you to be able to find all the pieces. Last time you didn't bring back enough pieces for my liking. Could you please work on that aspect as a spotter, I mean jeeze...

Maybe we could hook up and try doing it a few more times, so that we can see whether I can improve with practice ? Lemme know.

Gordon,
What well do is that I'll spot you on your hunter(camowings) and blow the wing up, like BVM did with that F-18F, and see if I can spot all the pieces, then well try it with your BARF with the yellow wings and compare our results. That sounds GREAT to me!!
