Hi,

Thought I would show you what my repair looks like. The thin line on the upper plywood plate is epoxy which has been sanded off. Also thought I would show you the functional air scoops I've installed. Just have to finish putting the screen in the top one. Not sure if the pictures show up or not. I've never tried to do this before.

Yes that looks like a very robust job. Should be perfect.

Hi,
I have been told it is recommended to use 2 satellites instead of 1 in the Sprint. I have seen pictures
showing the one satellite attached to the front of the Sullivan tank. If a 2nd satellite is used, where
would be a good location for it?

Thanks,
Doc…

Try putting it out in the Wing.

I have one on the left side of the fusalage and one in the right wing in front of the aileron servo on the bottom skin.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the advice. Where in the left side of the fuse would be good? I can only assume mounting it in the front of the tank is not good. I will put one in the wing. Do you know what another one would run? I'm using a JR DX-7. Thanks again,

Hello

Well my one is on the left side fuse wall next to the removable equipment tray, it can also be installed in the nose wheel bay by using an extension lead, there is a lot of room in there. I have read here on RCU many times that installing it on or near to large fueltanks could blank out the receiver, and this is a large fueltank. I used a servo connector to connect the receiver that is in the wing, you will have to cut the spectrum extension lead in the appropriate place and then install the connector there. I installed it the other way round from the rest of the connectors that go to the servos to avoid confusion.

I dont quite get your question about If I know what another would run!

I have no experience with the DX7 I use Graupner MX-22

Thanks

Paul

Hi Doc

I was told by Spektrum it was always a good idea to keep one remote rec. as hig in the model as possible, that's why you see the one mounted to the front of the sullivan tank, I have the second remote in the wing leading edge next to the left boom. I have followed this advise in both of my turbine models and the radios, a DX-7, and a JR9309 2.4 have been rock solid.

If your using a DX-7, I don't believe there is any provision for a secound remote rec.....unless you use a 9 channel rec. instead of the AR7000

Hi Paul,

Your right, I just got off Horizon web site and there is no accomidation for the extra satellite for the AR7000. I really don't want to spend the money on the 9 channel rec. I'll place it properely and I should be ok.
Thanks again,
Doc...

Hi,

Sorry to bother you with this but in one of your pictures it shows that nylon insert with the hole the exact size as the aloy dowel. I also see you have it already screwed in. What is the purpose of the other larger piece of nylon and how did you figure out the exact position of the insert before the final instalation of the center wing? If the piece was inserted from the rear of the former, once the wing was set in place, you could adjust that piece then lock it in with the screws with the wing in place.

Thanks for your help,

Doc...

Hello

The large piece of nylon is supplied by many chinese kits ( mainly prop ARFs ) and is ment to be inserted as trims for the holes of the wing fastening screws ( The screws that tighten up against the aluminium wing rods ) to pretect the balsa in that area from damage by the allen wrench. In the boomerang kit the instructions call for circular stickers to be used for this purpose. I think that these pieces may have been supplied by mistake as you would need 8 of them instead of 2. There might be a reason for them though and Alan might let us know here.

The method I used for alignment of the wing with the small nylon inserts is this: First install the wing and tighten the bolts that run through the rear of the wing to the fusalage. Then mix up some hysol and apply it carefully to where the nylon inserts fit. Make sure that the wing is sitting properly and straight in its place and make sure that you dont get any glue on the aluminium pins at this stage because you will remove the wing once again. When the glue has fully cured and before removing the wing, drill out the small holes and insert the screws. Now they should stay in place permanently when you remove the wing for a few more times untill you glue it to the main body.

I hope this helps.

Paul

you can run it out anywhere you want it at (doesn't have to be out the bottom), i have mine on the side on the boomer, it's easy to get to for hooking up the start up tank or plugging it at the end of the day.

oh.....lol

kinda looked like canards... so how fast has she been?

I keep thinking of getting a speed sensor to see how fast my sprint is pushed with my 22lbs falcon.
