Default BVM F86 Weight

Hi Guys

We have just completed our ( new version ) BVM F86 powered by a PST J600 engine. As it sits on the mains - no fuel - it weighs 17.25 lbs. I am curious to hear from other builders as to how their Sabres came out dry weight??

181/2 pounds with a P-120 turned down to 110,000 rpm. This seems about right as the airplane doesn't get scary fast but has good vertical and decent takeoff roll. I would have put a P-80 in it but didn't have one and I believe you better gas mileage with the 120. Now the obvious choice would be the P-70 but I don't have one of those either.

Default BVM Sabre

Hey Dean,
Maybe Tony F will chime in, he had great succes with his Ram 500 powered new version f-86. I can see why BV is high on the P-70, perfect power plant for his jets.

Mine was 17 pounds with a 500. Don't worry about it, it flies fine at that weight. Just make sure it's not nose heavy or you'll have a long take-off roll. With it sitting on it's wheels, if you put the tail on the ground it should stay there. Raising the tail an inch or so should be the neutral point. Raise it higher and it should drop on the nose wheel.

Have fun Dean!

Default f86

I have one of the new kits and I think its one of the best airplanes I have flown. Mine is powered by P80, which I think is way too much motor. I have a P70 on order which should be perfect. I'll weigh mine in a few days. I think this airplane is by far the easiest airplane to fly and LAND. It doesnt matter if you are too fast or too slow, it will stick to runway every time perfect! It does very nice four point rolls. I love it!!!!!AWESOME AIRPLANE!!!!!
