New Comp ARF Spark EDF
Guys
Just starting a new Custom scheme Flash (house scheme but Red/White/Blue)
I love my EDF Spark so much that I wanted a second one in a different scheme-several customers went for the same scheme as my original model so it's nice to be different. 100+ flights now and so easy!
Any one got a spare 5/32" Springair nose wire? I have a 3/16" but this is a little strong and heavy for the Spark

I get 5-5 1/2 minute flights. This is with power off passes to cool the controller/cells.
Top speed measured on a day with 15mph wind down wind passes were all 188-190MPH...because it's small it looks faster!
No knife edge couple, nice clean snaps, I love this aeroplane

You should see it with the new Stumaxx fan from Australia. It's blinding fast and sounds just like a turbine...no more EDF whine with the Stumaxx fan. Look at Youtube "Maverick at Arizona" for a good video. stumaxaircraft.com for the fan. I'm really tempted on this combination.

You can organise a custom scheme model through any rep-yes, it costs more even on a basic colour change like mine.
The factory is geared up to produce large quantities of models usually in the same colours, changing anypart of that takes time and organisation.
I have a customer who ordered a Spark with the Swiss red/white scheme, most things are possible.

Hi Dave
I received my Spark last week in the Swiss Scheme...looks very nice, I'll post some pictures when I get around to starting it.
I am in the throws of ordering a Stumax fan to run on either 10 or 11S (2.8-3.2KW expected).
It appears the fan may be 100g heavier than the DS-75 motor combo and I may need the 11th cell so expect to be a few hundred grams above your first one....in this instance I will almost certainly try the airbrake for take off and landing.

Do you guys have a rough idea what comp arf adds in US dollars for a custom scheme.. Daves ..Red, white and blue looks great.. comp arf should make that a standard ..better than there own
I really want a sport jet and this is about what I'm willing to pay for a sport jet
Neil I too would love to try the stu max but I don't want to have to mess with the ducting.. I bet the swiss scheme looks real nice one the spark
if there was a simple adaptor for stu's fan that would be great... I might have to see if I can get someone to help me adapt the duct for stu's fan
do you guys know what nue motor to run in the DS-75 for the spark
Ron

Not sure, a quick call or email to one of the US reps should get you the answer.
As for the fan, the DS 75 works very well, I now have 100+ flights and no problems, it's a matched package.
Sorry no idea on the Nue motor but I'm sure Steve might have an idea.
I hope to finish my new Spark this week and fly it this coming weekend at our monthly "Jet Fest" now I have a nose leg wire from M&R team pilot Rob Westwater!
regards

Thanks Dave.. I'll have to give them a ring.. I'll check with neu on the motor
Skyhawknut.. it's not a drop in fit.. very close but needs some work
look at this: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=767588
I don't see the problem with just spliting the duct then put a little silicon in the gap.. but I guess robert didn't like the way it fit
maybe he will chime in on that.. I would love to run the stu max but still tough to get right now

RE: New Comp ARF Spark EDF
got one in my hnds right now for duct plug, gonna do it up with Tj-100. Man comp knows there glass work. even with custom paint its feather light. its barely over 90mm size plane so I have no doubt it'll be a rocket.

RE: New Comp ARF Spark EDF
Ron, the final production version is pretty much drop-in. The OD of the front of the shroud is the same as the DS75, so no mods to the ducting is required. The only slight change may be for the mounts, as the hole spacing will be different. nothing major, though.

RE: New Comp ARF Spark EDF
Ron,
You will not have to do any Mods with the production version of Stu's fan. I had the early fan with the carbon housing.
I was going to split the duct but then there would have been a step at the face of the fan that we did not want.
The wood mounts in the fuse are drilled by the builder so there is nothing to modify there either.
The only thing you may have to do is roll a new tail pipe as the production housing is shorter It is a very easy install!
You can contact me if you have any questions.

Ron,
The Spark I plan only use 8s system for long duration time and light weight set up.
If it fly as good my 1:12 scale F-16. It should able to do 165mph plus just under 2.7kw.
Come down to the shop sometime.

RE: New Comp ARF Spark EDF
Tam, with the 8s setup how long are you expecting for flight times? 5+ minutes with the ability to do 160+ would be awesome.
I would also like to see pics of the swiss scheme spark. The jolly roger would be pretty cool as well.
