Well I guess you can build your own from a Jet Mach 60 kit Laser Design Service sells. I have compared the 2 side by side, and the Jet Mach 60 is lighter, and flies slightly faster than mine on a Super Bee II

Anyone stuff a Ram 750/1000 into a ShockJet? I'm thinking about using my Jet Central Falcon for a Tamjet F-16 I have... but the only extra engine I have is an older Ram 1000.
I know it will physically fit... but I figured if anyone has done it... let me know if there are anything to watch for.

Since you had your hands in TBM for a while.... Have you played with any of the prototypes with the 2 part wing, and the slide in tubes?
My shock has been flying for a while... and I generally don't spin jets. I'm just thinking about moving engines around since the engine in my Shock is a better fit for another model that I have on the shelf.

I have a Rabbit in mine and I had to use larger (heavier) batteries to keep the CG within limits. A tail-heavy Shok is downright suicidal at low airspeeds, especially in a spin. My clipped-wing Shok is balanced right at the aft limit and I don't intentionally spin it. If you do get into a spin, firewall the throttle and pray to the ghost of Sir Frank Whittle that you don't have a flameout before it recovers.

Hi guys,
I thought I would just pass this one along.
So... I got ahold of one of the last ShockJets that TBM was selling. It was the one listed "Without Hardware". When I got the box, the first thing I noticed is the box was different from my original... then when I looked into the parts... the regular wing joiner wasn't in the box. Instead, there was 2 wing tubes, and in the wing halves... there was fiberglass socket tubes. At this point... I shoved my bore scope into the wings... and it was VERY close to the tubes on the JetMach. The only difference is, there isn't a center clamping bolt.
Since the main wing tube extends into the wing a full 14" on each side... the way I see it is... it's an honest 2 part wing. (I'll add the clamping bolt)
Just thought I would pass this along. Hopefully this means TBM is working on a slightly different design.

As I posted above... I pulled my JC Falcon to use in my Tams F16. AND... I stuffed my only extra engine into the Shock. A Ram 1000 that Carlos has had his hands in... and it's making 30 Lbs.
At first I thought it was WAY too big... but after thinking about it... it's about the size of a P80... so I massaged the mounting rails, and trimmed the engine mount... and sure enough... it fit down inside. It's a tad heavy... but not too bad. It's only about 3 oz. heavier than my Falcon. SO... I may have to ad another oz. to the nose.
I gave it a test run, and I started to ramp it up... and I was scared that I would rip the mount out. SO, I shut it down... and turned it down to about 120,000 RPM's. That should be 22 Lbs. But... when I ran it up... it still felt more powerful than my Falcon. I guess I need to hook it to a scale, and see where I'm at. I'm going to be busy with work... so I don't think I will get to test fly it for a few weeks. I'll post up, if I rip the wing off. (lol)

I see..... BUT WAIT!
If you buy it I will get it for you, Build a crate and ship it to you by Greyhound.
I will only charge what I will have in it....
crate.. maybe 20.00
gas.... maybe 50.00
shipping... maybe 85.00
so total would be under 200 for all.

I'm running 70 degrees of flaps on final. Our runway is 300 feet (paved) and I usually only use a third of it to land and normally don't even need the brakes. I notice a considerable deceleration when I go from half flaps to full flaps.

Not sure if anyone is monitoring this thread, but here goes:
I picked up a nice Shokjet a few months ago, just now finding the time to set it up. Problem is, the seller forgot to include the wing bolts...yeah, insignificant items and easy to forget, right? Anyway, sarcasm aside, I downloaded an assembly manual, but there is no mention of the wing attach bolts.
So, I'm looking for some help here. It seems like a #8 screw fits, and I've used a 'feeler' to try and mark the length needed. Looks like different lengths for front and rear screws. Any guidance here will be appreciated. Looking to avoid multiple trips to the hardware store. Plus, these bolts look to be pretty long, so I'm wondering if I can even find screws that fit.
Thanks in advance!

8-32 sounds about right. All four of my wing bolts are the same length, 2 1/8". I use fender washers on the TE bolts to keep from crushing the wing. You might want to consider clipping the wing. Mine is clipped to 66". That's 2 rib bays on each wing half. I left the ailerons at the stock span and took 8" off of each flap. At max aileron deflection, the airplane is a blur. I broke a wing on a SJ several years ago, as have several others. Luckily, I was able to land without any more damage. The wing bolts held the two halves together long enough to land. When I clipped mine, I glassed the panels together with three layers of 6oz. cloth and West System epoxy. No problems since. My current SJ has a propane-start Rabbit in it. I've been flying it for about 5 years now. Still lots of fun. If you have any questions, just ask. [email protected]
