RE: Roll Call for T-38 Jet Rally

Hey Ron, I am not attending flying events nor flying turbines the rest of the year in protest of the president of ARCA going to the City of Austin and having Turbines banned at our field such that we can be fined by the city if we do. Hopefully these clowns will eventually see the light and the wrongs they did, as they far out weigh the threat that I made to get a seat at the table. Incredibly, there are those out there that consider what they did OK, and rightful, and friendly like. Some of those will be in attendence at this and future rallies. Maybe if a monsoon comes across Texas I will get over this......
But I will be with you guys in spirit while out on the lake with the Chicks in Bikinis! Have a great time, and I sure appreciate your asking if I was coming. I sure love to fly jets.....

Tim, this is a much larger issue. The president of our club is telling people that he was "Forced" to go to the Fire Marshall's office. I always respond "Think about that statement, what does that mean, "Forced""
I don't want to hijack the thread, just know that ARCA Took a vote based on my suggestion that we allow Turbine flights 365, and we won the vote to fly 365 days a year. Then all of the sudden, the president was "forced" to get the city of Austin to come down with a legal ban.
I have not taken any action against the officers of the club regarding this, mostly because I have been busy. But someday I will go to the city, get a couple of good attorney's involved and get this removed. We will see then what the club decides to do about it. In my opinion, the President of Arca wanted to be able to say "it's not me, it's the city". Well, I will have plenty of time to play those games as well.
Sorry about the intrusion,
Sean

Mike,
Got the ol Yellow F-18 all dusted off and ready to go. I hadn't run that turbine in 4 years, spooled it up with some new kero/oil mixture and PHWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE it started right up on the first light. Unbeliveable.
Not sure if Lee told you but I've got a new fiberglass fuel tank should hold a lot more fuel and longer flying times. The CG is going to be trickier, but hopefully nothing too crazy.
I might have to warm on the ol' electric F-18 to loosen up the thumbs. I should be rolling in around 10PM on Thursday night.
Hank

Hank,
I am looking forward to seeing you and Lee. I am sure that we can get the F-18 flying. The weather forecast looks good. We have gone back to making plaques this year.

Sean,
A picture of you flying your jet at our event with a pit crew of bikini-clad lovelies would be the most effective protest...

Ron,
I am looking forward to seeing you again. This is going to be a low key event. Feel free to bring anything you want in addition to the Topcat. You can do whatever testing you need to do.

Hank,
Looking forward to meeting you. I am doing a yellow F18 single conversion and look forward to your comments and seeing yours fly. I actually think I saw it fly many years ago at the DFW Jet Rodeo..... (canadian scheme?)
Ron,
I did get a flycam. It's really cool. I have only used it on my T-28 though. I am bringing it to Lubbock and will fly it on the boomer. It's worth the money in my opinion, I also hacked the CVS cam and the flycam is just a smaller, better package.
I will be getting in around midnight on friday.

Well, there was still a Jet Rally going on today. Thehard part was actually being able to get out to the flying site and later - get out again! Several people got stuck in the mud. But, there were still people who did make it out to fly their model jets. Here are some photos from today gathering.

Pic of my Topcat, which seemed to be pretty happy all weekend. [8D] And Doug's Yellow A-4 with a Dynamax/OS 91 - remember those? He is now contemplating a P-60. [sm=pirate.gif] And a Starfire with a P-60 I believe, but I didn't get a chance to see it fly. Brought by the Midland guys, who had several models ready to go!

Jim M's gokart Boomerang. He was testing it without the booms and wings. I was hoping it would takeoff though. He eventually flew it with those other parts. And, a pic of a sport Gripen. It was good to see Cowdog is back, with his P-70 Hornet flying better than ever too. [8D] Now to get ready for greater Southwest in Waco, in a few weeks. [8D]

Ok.........Here is my story.....in pictures.....
Thanks Mike for the hospitality - especially at registration (was I pilot #13 ???? - if not, I should've been!)
Pic #1
Full of enthusiasm, my girlfriend and I leave the hotel around 11am. We had just arrived at the Lubbock Regency around 4am from the stormy drive in. Wait a minute.......the electricity went off at 5am! That hotel can get hot quick without A/C! Anyways.......programmed the Nuvi for Abernathy airport and driving up I-27. Better snap a shot of beautiful downtown Lubbock!

Sure the wind is out of the east - sure it is probably going to rain a little, big deal......I've got 5 gallons to burn. Turning of off I-27 in Abernathy.......man I love GPS!
Wait a minute.........................I don't think I remeber any dirt roads from last year?!?!?!?!? Didn't we stay on "hard-top" all the way there? Oh well, at least we've got nuvi.....I can even see the runway on the screen! [8D]
Uh......that looks muddy! Are you sure this is the right way? No, but I don't think we can turn around here! Uh.........um.........we're not moving anymore are we?

Ok......we'll go backup and try to get back on the middle........forward, back, forward, back...................... $%$#.......um.....I think we're sliding into that ditch! (Just a side-note here: this is why I divorced my wife.....God she would've have been such a witch in this situation!)
I guess we'll have to walk to that house......hope the people aren't freaks! Hey look! ....... you can see and hear the jets over there!
$100 and 2 hours later - we're on the way to the airport. Nuvi is unplugged!
