Default F-18 Hornet

Does anyone know where I might find a set of plans for scratch building an F-18 ducted fan model? Gas or electric, doesn't matter.

Thanks,
Tom...

Tom,

Traplet do a plan. Visit their site www.traplet.com and search for plan code mw2789.

They have an office in the US so you may be able to get it from them.

Simon

Default scale plans

G. Bertella has many plans available. Look for his ad in the new Jet Power Magazine. FWIW: Tel: 0039-030831863 for a free catalog.

Sabre... EAM (WWW.EAM.NET) makes an EDF Super Hornet that is rather quick (for electric) and actually looks good, but it only has a 30" span and must be bungee launched and belly landed (no landing gear). Other than that I haven't really found anyone other than Y/A. That is why I am searching for plans. Can't find what I want, so I'll just build it from scratch.

Simon... I visited Traplet's web site. Do you know anything about the quality of thier plans/designs? I saw no photo's, so I don't really know what I'd be buying.

Steve... I'll look into Bertella, if I can find him. Nobody in my locale carries Jet Power Magazine. I'll try to look him up on the web before making a phone call.

Thanks guys,
Tom...

Tom, in the current issue of RCJI (April/May 2003) there is a small picture of it on page 60. The model was also featured in RCJI Feb/March 2000.

I've never bought a Traplet plan so cannot comment on the quality but they produce RCJI which is a quality mag so maybe there's a clue.

Regards
Simon

Default Traplet Plans

Hi there,

I've ordered two sets of Traplet plans in the past - the latest being the F-15pusher prop model. I haven't finished it (not bcause of the plans), but I was pretty happy with their detail. Full-size plots of the aircraft, but no instructions. You get the templates for all of the ribs, formers, etc. but you have to figure out how to put it together. Not bad if you've built a few planes already and have an idea how to do it.

I recommend them.

...I know what you mean, it's like having all the ingredients to bake a great cake, but you have to figure out how the ingredients are to be mixed. :stupid:

I dont have a clue how to make the fuselage and wanted to know roguhly how you would make it?

Can balsa wood be bent ? or do you ahve to carve out a hollow hole then shape it into shape using chisel/sand paper ?

You may want to try http://www.modelsbyjohn.com/ he is currently kitting a F-18 that can be built for either .77 glow or twin electric.

G. Bertella does...... He's somewhere over in Italy. I recently got one of his F-18 designs. Pretty cool, but you'd best know what you're doing in the construction. ....because there's no manual or anything.
