Another SkyGate Hawk Finished And Ready For Maiden+maiden video & pic's.
Hi all.
i've just finished building my SkyGate Collection Hawk.
it took me about 3 months, not working every day , but about 200 hours to finish it, with some help of my friends. the painting is done by my friend
Waleed Altailji known as Q8SABRE in RCU, and he did a great job. the model is powered by a jetcat p-180 , all jr 8511 servos , weatronic dual reciever , 2 lipo 4000 mah batt , 1 lion 4000 mah batt , jr 10x radio. fuselage gauges and static arrestor parts are from details for scale. the decals are from tailor made decals , and i would like to thank ralf shneider for his big help regarding some details issues.
i tryed to build it as super scale as possible .but not for the jwm because the weight is more than 20 kilo's.
here is some pic's that i quiqley took by a mobile camera , not very good quality but i'll post new better quality pic's soon with a video after i fly it.
hopfuly i'll test it within this week.
any comment are appreciated.
thanks.

Hey mark
your thread was a big help and you did a great job.
thanks .
i own the airworld hawk and i think that the airworld model is way better than the skygate.
there are some negative things about the skygate hawk such as engine maintenance .. you see if you want to reach the turbine you have to separate the nose from the rest of the a/c and take off
all the wiring and equipment remove the cockpit & the fuel tank , maybe damaging the paint. just to reach the turbine and then you have to re-assemble everything back again . its a week time
of work. i think if stefan volker made the nose separates a little bit further to the back in away that makes it easy to reach the turbine or made the wing as in one peice just like the airworld hawk , thats what i think , or maybe the wing is too big to be in one piece.

Hi,
Thanks.
Yes, maintenance is NOT easy on this model. It is the biggest model I own yet the hardest to work on! Nearly everything is done up through those gear door openings!!!
You can understand my frustration then when I went to maiden mine and found the fuel valve was 'sticky' so had to pack up, come home and take it all out!! Nightmare!
Anyway, hopefully you'll find the flying makes up for it. Don't make the mistake I made at first of flying like a smaller model and 'making' it do things tighter than it wanted. You really need the turns to be large radius and all rolls slow - then it just looks fantastically realistic! I shall be forever haunted by the smart arse comment "turn your 3D rates off" by the rather compentent jet pilot I was flying with
Rgds,
Mark

yes
i had to fit 4 large air cylinders 3 of them were just for the landing gears and i only had 3 times of retracing the gear after that the faile-safe starts and open them again.
regarding on how to fit the gear doors it was a puzzle to me it took me 3 days to figure it out specialy when there is no manual or pics showing that .
and the canopy is a nightmare . 100 pieces . but at the end you will have the ultimate jet . but i still favor the air world hawk. about the size it made the airworld hawk look like a baby to it .

Nice Hawk! Good luck with the test flights.
I did enjoy my Skygate Hawk, but after flying the air world one some more its hard to make a comparison.
Oh, and apart from flying it without 3d rates on, I have heard a competent pilot once say that the S.G hawk flew nicer with a slightly more forward C of G Not that schroedm listened
Regards Al

Hi ali
actually i moved the c.g forward . i made it little bit nose heavy, atleast for the test flight . and the expo on my
elev is 50% up & down
aile is 40%
rudd is 50%.
and i added another fuel tank 3.8L on top of the main fuel tank.i need a longer flying time. because of the p-180 fuel consumption. i used the alan boomerang fuel tank as an extra tank.
and thanks all for your kind words and good luck.

Yes, I think I will add a second tank too - I have my timer set at 6mins right now and that only gives me 1 go around before it gets risky [&:]
