Regaurdless of the comparison table the 12fg does have the logic switch feature
Yes the 12FG does have logic functions and 12+2 channels.

The 12Z did not come with 12 + 2 channels at first, this was a software upgrade that came six months later.
Ok, this explains it. I was looking for a new transmitter last November and read the 12Z and 12FG manuals through looking for differences and this was one of them according to the manual. 12FG has the 12+2 channels from the start.

MPDX-1 works with the newest software update on the FG too but that device only works with the 72mhz modulation schemes so its really a non feature for me as i'll never fly on 72 again. If they ever update MPDX-1 to work with FASST it might be nice.

Futaba just confirmed that the 12FG supports the MPDX-1 in all modulations.

To me this settles it, the 12FG is the better deal (I have a 12Z BTW)

Matt,
Can you point to where this info is? Have they released a new update that includes it? Thanks.

Volum control lets you adjust a value during the first flight. It makes trming a new plane easer and more accurate.
The Volum Control can then be turned off once you get the right value.

Anyone

Will appreciate the straight poop…

I’ve a 12Z—intend to go 2.4. http://www.xtremepowersystems.net/xtremelink.php is the ONLY way to go, but they haven’t released their 12 ch yet: both module and receiver combo will be only $235 – way below Futaba’s $399 via Tower Hobbies…

Here’s where I need help. Looks like I will have to buy Futaba’s version because I need it now. But Tower said: The software of the 50MHz and 72MHz 12FG, 12Z and 14MZ systems must be updated prior to installing this module.

They talk about the memory card that they don’t sell. Where I can get this card?

Once I have the card, where do I get the updates—from Futaba’s Web?[sm=confused_smile.gif]

Many thanks…

Ya you can just get any SD card from any electronics store, Target, Wall-Mart, etc. If you have a 1 GB card than that will work. Go to futaba-rc.com, then go to downloads. It explains how to do it. I was wondering though, is version 1.3 the latest for the Futaba 12FG?
That is what I have but of Futbaba's website they updated it and it says July 10th on there so I am not quite sure what the latest version is.

The 12FG FASST works perfectly...the best thing since sliced bread as far as I am concerned, you will not regret it. I fly it in Helicopters, aerobatic and all my Jets, NEVER had a single problem or moment of concern.

Check the version of your firmware on the TX, if it is 1.2, it will not have the FASST 2.4 software.

When updating, load 1.3 FIRST, then upgrade to 1.5 or1.6.
I am running on 1.5.
1.6 I am told, only corrects a couple of bugs in the non 2.4 firmware.
To update is very simple, you do need a SD card, 1gb is more than enough.
Your PC also needs a SD reader, most have them now but if you do not, then you can buy a USB card reader from PC World or similar.
The firmware and instructions…etc are downloaded from the Futaba website.
It is worth doing, already since I have owned mine, the updates have given me many additional functions.

I also make the same comments about XPS.

If someone does not have an SD card reader, you can probably also use a digi camera that uses SD cards.

Mr DJ
There are quite a few people out in the community that have lost airplanes using XPS. I would not use that stuff for a second - stick with the major manufacturers...

Hey guys,

I was just wondering how to update to version 1.6. I have formatted the 1 GB sd card in my 12FG. I downloaded the update via the Futaba's website. I am stuck though. My update is on my desktop labeled T12FG_1_6. When I open that file up, it just takes me to my files and it shows the file and this adobe reader file. I can't acces the Futaba File System Utility. It says the file is compressed (zipped) too.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Andrew

I just ordered the FASST from Tower for my 12Z...

I intend to order 9 more receivers as I was with XPS. I will be able to operate all 10 via the one modulecorrect?

Thanks...

Good choice.
Yes you can operate as many rx's as you want.
You bind each one in turn.
