Bearings and shaft setups for all-flying stab?
Hi guys,
I've done some looking around here, on Tam's site and on Dreamworks, and so far have not found a separately offered shaft and bearing setup for an all-flying stab.
I am gathering parts for a build of the Mark Frankel Vigilante kit (an old RCM plan, Laser Design Services short-kit), and I am looking for someone who offers these parts separately. I've seen some very nicely done examples of this on the Yellow Aircraft kits and the Tam kits .. and I'll call them next week to see if they will sell ala carte .. but wondering if anyone here as experience or advice to offer.
FWIW, the Vigilante not only has all-flying stabs, but an all-flying rudder/fin as well (the original design has a fixed fin, but I'll make if movable .. cool and to follow the AMA rules)
Anyone know how to get in touch with Mark, I am sure he'd be amused we are still captivated by his design!

Ya, pictures all over the internet. I called at least 6 different manufacturers, and three different sales people, that product does not exist, you can not order one, and even if someone takes your order, they can not deliver it.
PROVE ME WRONG, because I tried over and over and over again, and was never able to get a pair.

RE: Bearings and shaft setups for all-flying stab?
Hi guys:
I designed a ducted fan RA5C version of the Vigilante and my plans were published in January 1997 Flying Models.
It did have full flying tail surfaces including the rudder. I used a very simple needle bearing support system for the hinge points. The proto type was flown for many years in both Colorado Springs and in Daytona beach area which included Florida Jets.
This proto type is still in flying condition but has been put in retirement while I have been working on a turbine version.
My original design did use a lot of info from Frank Fenalli who I spoke to personally as well as design input from the late Ivan Munninghoff.
I have sold about a dozen kits of this design from my original molds.
If you need further info e-mail me thru RCU.
Hope this helps.
