Default Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

Hi Guys.
I have always lusted over F-4's and have had a couple Yellow Aircraft DF versions but nothing comes close to the larger scale F-4's we have today. I am taking advantage of the FeiBao custom paint option and will have mine painted in VMFA 451 Warlords off the USS Forrestal. I will start a complete build thread right after I finish the F-5E. The only thing I need to find right now is a cockpit. Let me know if you get a line on one. I'll post pictures when the jet arrives.

Thanks!!

Yeah it looks like my bud Chris is making sure you all know that[8D]

I will most likely put one of my Titan series engines in there. If possibilities were endless I would go nuts and put a P-180 in.

Hi Mike. It was your F-4 that pushed me over the edge. I could take it no more
I did not plan to go to Hamburg, I'm kinda afraid of the whole grass runway thing.

No kidding! I'm envious. Who was that dude that recently (late last year) sold all of his really fine jets? I almost picked up his MIBO for 4k. Wish I had. Some guys have all the fun. Ali is one.

Dave Presta was running a Jetcat P-180 in his 1:6 scale F-16.....it was off the hizzle. I think he said he used full throttle 3 times in a 9 minute flight....scary power.

The -J is my very favorite F-4.....pics please when you get them!

Thanks Guys. I love the scheme too. The C and J nose Phantoms are the best looking IMO.
Lots of pictures when I get it.

That's a great scheme, there are at least four or five F-4's around us painted like that and they look great, I think BVM not SM or FB.

What, you affraid of grass........

come on Dom get over it, grass is fine and will help slow the plane down on landings. I have flown my bobcat, Rafale, Grippen and F-86 off of grass with no bad effects or damage to the landing gear.
When you have gear problems during the flight what is the first thing you look for when it it time to land? (GRASS)

the hamberg field has nice low cut grass which will allow any kind of jet to fly there.

Ok.
Step one to getting this jet was getting the documentation.
I purchased the 1/48 scale decals from Spruce Brothers.
I just mailed these to FeiBao in China and they will use these to create the color scheme on my Phantom. The process should take about 4 weeks from when they receive my package (and that takes about two weeks). I am no hurry since I still need to start the F-5E. These two projects are what will allow me to maintain my sanity through the long non-flying season.....Winter sets us back with no flying for 6-7 months[]

Dom,
are they going to shorten the nose for you too, FeiBao's F-4 looks like an "E" model?

Hey,
forgot to mention...since your buying stuff...I'm selling my beautiful Electron Blue Corvette you like. Let me know if you’re interested, Ill give you a smoking deal.

Hi Chris.
The first run of F-4's were the "E" nose. They improperly applied some other colors to that nose. FeiBao now offers a "J" nose in addition to the "E" nose. Mine will be the F-4J just like in the documentation.

I love that corvette. It is paid for so you should keep it.

1 Electron Blue Corvette = 7 more jets

I don't have any more room for Corvettes or jets!!
But I some how will find room for more jets!!!!!!!!!

Dom,
Mine too was from that first run. I really like the "Jolly Roger" scheme. I'm waiting on the new nose, but it's flying so well...I may just leave it alone. Flew today with all rockets and tanks attached, and it flew awesome!!! Did some weathering, and highlighted the panel lines. I'm really happy with the new look. Headed to Lake Wales in a few weeks.

Wow looks great Lewis!!
I think changing the nose is a winter project. That will be a fairly large job considering the equipment that needs be reinstalled. You may be right leaving it as is and keeping the other nose as a spare.
Good luck. Can't wait to have the F-4's together at KY Jets!!!!!!!!!!!!
