I'm going to test fly a 52 that Ray Cannon designed and built this Thursday. Ray did the B-47 that I flew at a few rallies. If all goes well, I'll post some pics after. Ray sent me some but I must have trashed them. The nacelles are a little larger then scale, but everything else looks great. He designed and built a scale retractable landing gear for it. Should be fun!

Default CG's B-52

T45, once in a while you can get a copy off e bay, but your best bet is directly through Traplett as the ones on e bay are sometimes just that copy's.

Mark at RT Models does have one in the works, but he is going through chemo and has slowed any progress way down on all future kits.

No, it's got 8 of the same motors that the B-47 uses. Wemotec Mini-fans on Plettenberg motors. Not sure exactly what Plettenberg. I'm really looking forward to the test flight. It's 10' span, weight around 18 pounds.

Default B-52 & B47 info

Hey TonyF:

Your's (and Ray's) B-47 is the one shown in last years MAN right?

If so, could you post the specs of your B-47 here like drawings, construction photos, what specific Wemotec Mini-fans were used. What specs for the Plettenberg motors(amps, etc.). Size and type of batteries.

The same is true for the B-52. Maybe create a new thread for just the B-47 info.

thankyou

Just returned from the lake bed with Tony and Ray Cannon after teh test flight of the B-52. All that can be said is that it was awesome. The plane was tailheavy but Tony managed a super flight none the less. Performance is spectacular for an electric. Flight was around 3 and a half minutes long with plenty of power left for more. We sent Ray home with a list of mods to do to ensure the great success of the BUFF. The thing that was truely fabulous was the landing gear Ray machined out of block aluminum. Very close to scale and it works just like the real on. The gear doors were excellent as well. A true work of art.

Default Plettenbergs

Hello,
I believe the Plettenbergs that Ray Cannon used in the B-47 were 200-20-6's. They are basically very well built speed 480 motors( better magnets, more poles more money). They typical draw 20 amps on 10 cells.

Hope this Helps

Search the UK magazine sites. I saw one that some guys built in one of their magazines a while back that was, shall we say, MUCH larger than the one in your photo.

Ray's B-52 is going to be awesome. It already is, just needs a CG change and some servo/linkage changes. I earned my keep on the first flight! I took a bunch of pics that I'll post later.

The landing gear is really fantastic. All self-machined and very scale in operation. The power nacelles are larger then scale, but you don't really notice it that much.

As with Ray's other projects, no real plans, no construction photos, and no intent to do anything else.

The electric B-52 in the UK was built by Chris Golds. He used to write for RCJI but sold all his IC DF stuff and switched to electric. He writes for one of the electric flyer magazines. He also built a large Supermarine Swift that had an early turbine in it.

T-45, I have a set of plans and laser cut semi kit and wire cut cores for a fairly large 101" span b-52 in development i.e. not built or flown yet. $140.00 + shipping

And on the B-2 if you go with the C.Gold's B-2 I have a laser cut short kit avail for that one if interested.

Thanks,
Mark
