Does anyone know where to buy carbon fiber sheets in the US or overseas? I checked BVM and TBM but didn't find any. I'm looking for 12" squares at 3mm; 4mm; whatever. One or two of us in the FEJ F-18 thread are interested - maybe more...

I have large sheets of it, if you want that specific size, I can cut it on my CNC machine to spec, including any holes you want in it etc. If interested, let me know.

Do a google for composites, carbon fiber. Many to consider. The mnf. sell by way of distributors. You might have to buy in limited quantity, maybe not. Serious research for the best price.

look at the last page of the Fly Eagle Jets F18F thread, if you can manufacture these landing gear plates you may have a captive market.

If you need exact measurements let me know. Post something in that thread to find out if there is any interest. I used wood, but if something was available like the carbon fiber plates I would have gone that way.

Also, see the area with the hole? Keith drilled a hole for the actuator so that part would be even stronger.

If you guys decide to buy this stuff (you can get it on ebay) please be aware of the health hazards from the dust. when I cut this stuff I use flood coolant on the tormach to contain the dust, and when I did it on the CNC router, I used a hepa filtered vac. It will mess you up.

I have sheets of red, blue & gold cf sheets (3 mm thick, maybe some 2.0 mm) in roughly 12" x 24" sizes. Some sheets are bigger, some smaller. These are left from Art's Hobby.

Please send me a PM if you are interested. Will sell by the sheet or the whole lot.

Definitely need to protect yourself from breathing this dust and they should be cut wet to keep the dust down!
