Quit screwing around, and give this a/c to the assembler I want to hear how this LAWNDART flies.

Thanks for the discipline Uncle Joe!

Vin,

Nice Mig, I drooled all over the one that Wagner had at the FIJR. However, the war department is making me finish a few birds before I get any new ones.

Hey Vin, check this book out if you don't already have it, not for documentation really but just for the history.

I was under the impression that the a/c was in Chinese markings not Vietnamese . In enlarging the photo I see they are NVAF,sorry about that. Matt , As far as Col Tomb,(whether a myth or not) to those aircrews that flew the unfriendly skies of North Vietnam he was real deal.

That's for sure! That book I pointed out is really intersting. It provides biographical detail of many of the VPAAF top aces (several of them went into top positions in the Air Force and the civil aviation agency). Very interesting reading.

I am also reading about the Have Drill and Have Doughnut programs. Those VPAAF pilots were very formidable and did a lot with a little.

The main gear on the fullsize is rotating (the wheels are staying vertical during retracting)when they are going up and the gear doors are smaller. That`s why the fullsize can have the droptank between the doors.

Tom
'Don't think so...... It looks to me like the struts compress as the gear retracts..No rotation. Since the model struts do not compress, they struts are longer than scale when in the well so the doors have to be wider. Here are a couple pics of the one parked at Oshkosh that I crawled over.

Vin,

We'll just have to trial fit a tank and see.

Tailwinds,

John

Hi John,

Yes the gear (wheel/hub) are articulated, and the wheels rest vertically in the fuselage. Now I have no idea if the struts shorten as well, but the wheel is indeed articulated.

Hi Pat,

I think the wheels twist on the F-105, not sure.

The MiG-21 is a real b*tch. I know a couple of masochists tried to make scale versions but they do not look very reliable to me. This cheat that Airworld and FB is using is a great compromise.

Vin no offense intended, keep that thing in one piece unitl I can see it fly at Speedworld :-)

Are you going to do a "build" thread?..SAY YES
Yep, there will be a build thread (just like with the Gripen) for the MiG-21. A plane this gorgeous deserves one!!!!

Tom, Matt,

Man! I really stepped on it this time! I looked at the gear really closely on the theMig in Oshkosh and I did see the pivot but this video show it all:

[link]http://tw.youtube.com/watch?v=CIydxwM74ck&feature=related[/link]

At about :30 you can see the articulation......Amazing!

Here are a couple more pics from my collection:

John

Guys,

Patience, patience. It sounds like BB Ron isn't the only guy who doesn't buy green bananas. I had just finished Ron's Bandit and had to clean up the workshop before starting the new plane. I have a few MiG goodies on order and should be arriving this week so there has been progress even if YOU can't see it. I'll be "wrenching" on the MiG before the week is out. In the mean time, I'm painting the Gripen.

Regards,

Jim

Hiya Joe,

Actually it's painting not repainting. I bought the white gelcoat version and had merely tarted it up with some Monokote trim sheets for the maiden and had never gotten around to painting it until now. I hope you can get some good flight photos of it. Break away from the cold and get out here, Marine!!!!
