Hi,
I have the following control throws:
+/- 30mm on ailerons -60% expo
+/- 40mm on elevator -50% expo
Whatch out on the ailerons as the M2000 is very sensitive on the roll axis specially if your CoG is a bit too forward. I advise you to have a dual rate switch with a reduced throw on the ailerons (at least to start with) set to +/-20mm.
As I have an iGyro on board, it helps a lot to smoothen the flight characteristics. Gain is set to 30% for now and ailerons throw at +/-30mm.

Regarding the light system, look at thread #146 where I posted the web link to the supplier.

Hope that helps,

Great.
Also, one more check. The old manual says to set the elevator with a +1/8" for neutral position.
Is that how you flew yours?

Thanks again.

I did not know about this information, I have some trim up (3 to 4mm) to fly neutral but I think it is resulting from the effect of flying with the landing gear down. To be confirmed when my landing gear can be retracted.

As far as I know delta aircraft require a bit up elevator for leveled flight.

Regarding the wing tip lights, are there any ribs etc. in the way from the tip to the elevon servo bay or is it fairly open to run the wires?. I haven't checked yet so just asking in advance.

Thanks.

As far as I remember there is no rib, you'll need to find your way to run the wire. I used a piece of metal wire (1,5mm) to guide the electric wire from the wing/elevon tip to the servo bay area. The most difficult part was the cabling of the light on top of the fin, it took me while to guide the wiring from the top to the bottom servo area.

Yes I did the light on top of the fin as well, just need to do the tip lights now and we can fly.

Thanks again.

gentlemen i will be joining you soon, i just ordered my kit, i hope the gear issues have been better addressed on the recent version, i flew a smaller mirage for over 10years so I'm used to it's flying characteristic and they all need a bit of up to fly level. i also only had elevons and not the split surfaces that it comes with and no slats either.

in fact I'm curious as to the slat setting and how you are a lll using them if at all.

have not ordered the turbine yet but debating 140 or 180.

i appreciate this thread and input, glad i fount it.

Hi Hoser,
I would not recommend a 140 for the turbine, 180 is more appropriate, my M2000 weights 17,6Kg dry (that is not light I agree). During the winter time I retrofitted the gear and doors to pneumatic as the electric version did not have enough torque in flight to open and close the gear reliably. As I was tired of JetCat (flameout due to electrostatic discharge) I also decided to replace my 180RX by a Jets Munt 200XBL, same weight, same dimension, less consumption, more power. New season flight in the coming weeks if weather permits.

thanks Raf and nice flying. I'm debating if it even doing the Slats as it seems few people use them let alone concern of binding. Thanks for the info in on the turbine, I did talk to a local pilot who flew one of the original version 2007 on a 28 pound turbine and said a 140 would be plenty, i guess the new version is a little heavier?

led i ordered from Eric

Mhhh, I have build and flown a first version for a customer with a JetCat P160, it flew well but I would go for a 180, and surely not for a140.

Grt,
Berto.

thanks guys are either of you using a gyro on them, i have used both I-gyro and cortex so I'm debating which one will work best with the elevons and the very hight torque servos.

I have connected the slats but have not tried out yet as I was busy with the basic settings on the first few flights. This is something I will explore as soon as everything goes well with my new set-up.
My M2000 is equipped with the iGyro (as my other planes) and I can only say that this is very pleasant to fly with the iGyro engaged. As you can see from the video above, the roll & elevator axis are very smooth, you also appreciate the difference in windy condition and on landing.
By the way the elevons don't come in 2 parts originally, you'll need to do that yourself if you wish.

Raf, thank you, I don't want to split the elevon I like that simplicity unless others think differently. Ali set up the I-Gyro on my F-86 and it works amazing but was wondering if you had to do much tweaking on the set up. I also use the cortex only T-33 and like that as well.

also your lights looks fantastic.

i have had my mirage for 2 yeas now, and about 100 flights with it.

i ALWAYS use flaps and slats.

before it was powered with a jetcat p180rx and p180RXi, now its powered with a behotec jb220 with 23,5kg thrust. its perfect.

i have also got rid of the std gear, which is not strong enough to retract the main gear, unless to roll invertred, like you see on "rafale sports" video.

now i have used a behotec C50 electric gear, heawy modified for the mirage. now engine and gear is a joy!

here is a video of my mirage with old gear (std) and p180Rx:

A few pics of the new flight season, equipped with the new turbine 200XBL, fantastic power and low fuel consumption.
BTW, I did try the slats and air brakes, good news no impact at all on flight characteristics (no trim necessary) but could not really feel a difference with slats out on landing.

waiting on mine to get done and shipped going to try the gear as it comes, i hope that they have addressed the issues and not selling a gear system that has issues. I will be using regular servos and valves as i have some reluctance on the electronic valves.

will be using a rhino 180 in it

Hi Kasper,

Can you please let me know how much effort and which of the Behotec C50s (90 or 95 degree) you used to retrofit the gear and do the original struts still fit ok. Love flying my Mirage but the gear has given me nothing but problems and takes all the fun out of it. I fly with a K180 off grass and have no issues with power but wouldn't recommend anything smaller. Mine came out at 18.3kg dry and I always use the LE slats, these give a nice nose high approach with plenty of control all the way to the ground.

Thanks

Peter

Raf great looking bird. Question when you balance for CG do you do it with fuel or dry, the manual says UAT full but does that mean tanks also?

Peter you used the air system it came with or did you go electronic valves

Hoser,

CG with UAT full and mains dry. I used a couple of different valves and finished off with the Jetronic hi flo valve on the mains and a normal jetronic valve on the nose leg. I had differing results with this, if I slowed right down they would retract, sometimes, even at higher pressures but other times I had to roll inverted to get them away. Looking for a more reliable solution.

cheers

Peter
