Can I Use A Oleo Strut When The Axle Isn't 90 Degrees?
I'M TRYING TO COME UP WITH A SEMI-SCALE GEAR FOR A F-16 AND WANTED AN OLEO STRUT SET UP. MY QUESTION IS THAT THE MAINS COME OUT AT AN ANGLE FROM THE JET AND THE AXLE IS CLOSER TO A 75 DEGREE ANGLE THAN A 90 IN RELATION TO THE STRUT. ROBARTS LOOK LIKE THEY ARE ALL 90 DEGREE, CENTURY JET MAKES A SET FOR AN F-16 BUT THEY WON'T ANSWER MY EMAIL AND GIVE ME ANY MORE INFORMATION ON IT. ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE MODIFY A STRUT OR ARE THEY AVAILABLE AND I JUST HAVEN'T LOOKED HARD ENOUGH FOR THEM? THANKS.

Robart struts
I used Spring Air retracts with Robart struts on a small sport model called the Sport Eagle from Sunset Models. To get a wider ground stance I angled the main retract units to move the tires out wider. I bent 3/16" axles to the angle I needed and installed them in the Robart struts. It seemed to work OK. I was flying off grass at the time and they held up well.
