RE: UK - Bickley jets 2009
The roof goes on our structure at the patch tomorrow. That means with the use of some plastic sheets or the side panels from our marquees, we'll have a place to store models overnight at the jet meet! We probably will put some more permanent sides on at some point but doubt they'll be done before the jet meet.

RE: UK - Bickley jets 2009
The decisions were not made by me but there are reasons. I left it to the construction experts. Something to do with the normal wind direction.
If its pouring with rain though..........you won't be there anyway
Guys, this is not the place for this discussion [sm=thumbs_up.gif]
Cheers

Gregg can you let everyone know
JETS OVER RAYDON CANCELLED
We have recently received noise complaints about jet flying at Raydon and to protect our own flying field i have no option but to cancel the jets over raydon meeting.I aplogise for this but it was a decision by all of the jet pilots who were to be invovled in running this meeting that we do not create any more problems for ourselves.

Hi Gregg,
I did some taxing trials today on John Wrights Horten which he has now finished.Every thing seemed ok just now waiting for the wind to go round to the SW so we can fly her.
Dave Hopefully by the end of this week it should of flown

Hi Greg,
We flew the horten this morning bit of a problem with the lateral control especially when you wanted to turn right it did not want to. We could not retract the gear so this gave us extra problems .As our normal approach is right hand i had to elect to do a left hand downwind landing but managed to get it down in one piece.

RE: UK - Bickley jets 2009
hmmm noise problems with the field, we had a simular preoblem our field is 2 miles away all the way around from any houses and ontop we are in between 2 factorys. yet the public reckon the can here our planes during the day and we dont fly jets at our field. i would not be bothered one bit being woken in the mornings with the sound of rc turbines or even the glow motors. what really $%%$s me off is being woken up by the police hellicopter 60 ft above my house at 2 am for an hour so wheres the sound limits and so forth there, and also dustbin men as they come round here at 7 am and boy they dont no how to be bloody quiet.
regarding the noise complaints,
have you tried to call a meeting with the residents who are complaining as they really dont no how complex these things are and they dont realise a good field or strip is very very hard to find, maybee if you flying club was to come together with the comunity with the matter you could come to some arrangements on time limits for flying such as 2pm while 5 pm on a sat and sun. (for the jets of coarse) also offer out a free flight of a trainer for there kids. once you get there kids hooked on this hobby you will end up geting there dads hooked. once there hooked less people to complain

I used to be responsible for some very large construction projects and found that often a Cheese and Wine get together to allow people to disscuss their concerns went a long way to bringing the local community on board, but be prepared for hostile intent from some and have your best club diplomats on hand, don't tell them how complicated everything is, just how safe it all is and that you will bend to an agreed formatt.
Just my experience over 40 years of dealing with hostile groups.
