Default THE GENERAL'S Fei Bao 1/7th F-15 Build,Test Results, and Video

For the past few weeks, I have had the pleasure to assemble this fantastic new gem from Fei-Bao. Brought the bird home from FIJR November 3rd, and completed the process on Sunday December 14th. This prototype required very few changes to the effort. The few required will be implemented into the production of this model. Took many photos during the assembly, and will comment on each one.

The next photos show the the tail cones. Great care was given to every detail. Will spend time weathering after test flights.

All vents look equally as good as these two.

Front nose gear.

Main gear

Great care must be given to the fuel system. Inital test flights will be on a LPSS Rhino. Later the new Jet Central Mammoth will be installed. The photo of the fuel lines show the original brass tubing. I decided to upgrade to 3/16 brass tubing to ensure an adequate fuel flow.

Here is the fuel system. I decided on this set of tanks for the fuel system. One of the provided tanks was omitted. This set gives 200 ounces, but the vent in the main tank was adjusted to 185 total for me. If you go with a twin, there is a set-up for 230 ounces. You may note the absence of a UAT. I use a 16oz tank and a very large felt clunk. This arrangement has never let me down.

Attention was given to strength in all areas, and yet this model will weigh about 53 pounds with fuel. These photos show how all areas are reinforced. In contrast, the F-18 weighs 63 to 65 with fuel. This should really go with the new Mammoth. This new engine produces a true 45 pounds of thrust at 6000 ft.

More pictures of the rear section. All tanks re-plumbed with varge diameter tubing.

Lower by-pass for the Rhino, and later Mammoth.

Plenty of room for the installation. It was my goal to make the F-15 easy to access. With a minimum of connections, the nose can be removed and re-attached with little effort. Later pictures will show this.

Shown is the retract, brake, speed brake, canopy open and lock, and sequencer installations.

A123 batteries will move this model. I use A123's in everything now (Predator, F-4, and F-15). Over time all my equipment will be 100% A123.

Hi Lewis

The F-15 is looking good! I can't wait to see it in 2009.

There was a post for this air connector called the sixtube from Colder a couple of weeks ago. Nice for detaching all the lines at one time. They have a two tube connector and a ten tube connector.

http://www.colder.com/Products/tabid...x?ProductId=22

You can get it at Cole Palmer

http://www.colepalmer.com/catalog/pr...sp?sku=3105104
http://www.colepalmer.com/catalog/pr...sp?sku=3105121

You will need one body with male or female fittings, and in insert with the opposite fittings. They are currently out of the 1/16" body's except for the valved one which will automaticly seal when you dissconnect, its a little pricey though.

Todd at Dreamworks also has those nice ashlock multi connectors. I'm going to be putting on my planes, If you ever need to take them apart for service or shipping I would imagine that it would make it quite a bit easier to disassemble, and then reassemble.

Duke,

That was me, I need to use these to make the nose of my FB F-4 removable to get it into my small trailer

Thanks very much for posting that link! I looked all over for a source for those...

I use the Ashlok connectors too all the time to make connections and will use those for the servo links.

My packs came from Horizon. Don't know how many they have left. You can also get them directly from A123 Racing (888-221-5569). A123 is the only way to go!

Look carefully and you can see a remote receiver in the vent.

Canopy removal made easy.

Routing of the air lines.

More later today.

I like the A123 Racing packs. At the max charging rate, I can charge a 4600 mah pack in 15 minutes.

Lewis, was there any carbon fiber reinforcement in the F-15?
